I haven't really looked into it...but I heard some pollster the other day saying that Hillary can't win because she can't pull the Midwest swing states in. In their opinion if she gets the nomination the only way she can win is if Giuliani, some other "carpetbagger" (his term, not mine), or a republican from largely democratically controlled state (CA, DE, etc) gets the nomination. Otherwise we just repeat 2004.

To be honest I am not really all that worried about it yet, and won't spend a lot of time researching or speculating...but given that she is going to have to stay pretty far to the left to win the democratic nomination, this seemed pretty sound to me.

    It has already started.

scary that the fact that Obama's candidature might be ruined because he in the age of 6-10 went to a muslim school and might still be a muslim today. Then again i guess from the bush retoric that islam is difinetly something you should hide in US politics, while being a christian is something you can boast about and actually score votes on.

guess it wont be long untill we see obama/osama jokes and so on.

Well, that donkey won the election. Twice. So guess the joke is on you, eh?

And as a small hint of the "capabilities" of 51% of voters, here is a funny clip. :D

Being mostly republican and firmly entrenched in the Anti-Hillary mindset, I would vote for anyone opposing Hillary.

On the other hand, I would vote for Obama unless he was running against McCain.

    My order of preference:

    1. McCain
    2. Obama
    3. Any/every other republican
    4. Any/every other democrat
    5. Any/every candidate from odd-ball parties
    6. Hillary Clinton

Although it would be interesting to see what dress Bill would wear to the inauguration. :)

I wouldn't touch Hillary, Obama, McCain or Guiliani with a 10 foot ballot. For me it's Tom Tancredo or Ron Paul. Neither of these guys are far enough to the left to get on the Republicrats respective ballots, though. Barring these two my only responsible choice would be to vote Libertarian.

    T2...I think you forgot choice "5a: Sadam's corpse" ;)

I think the greatest problem with Mrs. Clinton as a candidate is the average American's ability to connect her with an issue or a platform...it will boil down to one of three issues...

    1. Being the wife of that President we had a while back where we think we remember feeling pretty darn good.

    2. Her aborted (no pun intended) health care plan that frankly creeped out the AMA and the Insurance industry.

    3. Her concept that we need a village to properly raise our children.

Unless Ms. Clinton (I've alternately used "Mrs." and "Ms." to show no disrespect...only to show I'm not sure how she currently refers to herself) can develop some serious planks that capture the imagination of America, I think it will be impossible for her to overcome those preconceived notions. It has nothing to do with her being woman, just lacking an identity as a politician.

Don't have a clue about the politics over there, but I would love to see a woman as president! Make her a black, homosexual, muslim woman and it'll be even better! But, unforunately, I think both are nearly just as unlikely to happen.

I also think that Hillary would have a difficult time winning the general election. However, I think her chances of winning the primary are significantly better. Which is unfortunate, as she stands a much better chance chance to get on the ballot that become President.

The other thing I hate is that the primary process is so spread out. Usually, whoever wins the primary in the first couple of states in which it is held (Iowa, New Hampshire) gains momentum and cruises to an easy victory. The problem I have with this process is that the citizens of Iowa and New Hampshire basically decide the Democratic and Republican canidates. Why is it so hard to schedule all the primaries on the same day, or at least the same week? Heck, they can't even do it in the same month.

I live in Maryland, and with me, the primary process is truly meaningless. 35 other states hold their primaries before Maryland, so usually both the Republican and Democratic contenders have already secured enough states to win their respective parties nomination. Therefore, even if Maryland bucked the national trend (which is unlikely) it wouldn't matter in the end.
