Hey Felinoid I going to have fun with my group of three. I pretty much removed the group listed above, expect the Ranger and here is my new group.

    Male - LG - Eleven - Ranger
    Str 18/00
    Dex 19
    Con 17
    Int 16
    Wis 14
    Cha 18

    Female - CN - Eleven - F/M/T
    Str 18/12
    Dex 19
    Con 17
    Int 18
    Wis 13
    Cha 18

    Male - LG - 1/2 Elf - M/C
    Str 13
    Dex 18
    Con 16
    Int 18
    Wis 18
    Cha 10

With these characters I have my two archers, two mages, a thief, a cleric, and all these characters have decent amount of hit points.

I am wondering if there is a way to have two fimilars in BG2 if you have 2 mages in your group.

Only the protagonist gets a familiar (and Bhaalpowers) so when you start the game make sure to put a mage in the first slot.

This is what I am thinking...

    Multi-player game...

F/M/T summons fimilar as the protaginist. Puts fimilar in backpack and than export that character.

Go to the area where you would be able to change characters in the multi-player game. Change the protaginist to my C/M. Have the C/M summon a fimilar and also place the fimilar in the backpack. Export character.

Than go back into this screen and import the two characters with fimilars.

Has anyone tried this and if so does it work.

One of my fimilars would be cat and the other would be the dragon.

My apologies to anyone I called a liar over the years over rolling higher then a 99. Since BGEE has a total roll count I've actually seen 100+ though rare it does happen. So once again sorry. Sorvo toasts a

Well, the game rolls the same as tabletop - 3xd6 for each stats for 18 points total, so 108 points has always been possible even in the base game.

When it stowed, the Familiar is only an item in your backpack...
You can use CreateItem and CreateCreate to give the Protagonist a Familiar. It will have a Creature/Item name that starts with FAM
To give another PC a Familiar you would need to alter dialog files or scripts.

That particular post is from back in 2005 tho - i figure someone went ahead and merged threads since they're kinda about the same topic.
Honestly, i don't really see the point in merging threads if one of them is >10 years old, since it'll cause misunderstandings like that. :smash:

Ah, it's a good idea to quote when you're not replying to last post. Just hit the "Reply" link on the post you're replying to and it quotes it automatically.

Nope, there was no merging, just Sorvo replying to an old thread.

I looked at the time of Sorvo's post but not the date of the posts above his.
Familiars for all Wizards! This might be possible, it's a matter of altering scripts. Though the familiars are not as useful as all that...

As far as i know, adding the familiar through EEkeeper should work just fine, though i'm unsure if you will gain the bonus HP that way.
It'd be kind of cool if there was a mod out there that allowed you to be able to pick what familiar you get when you first cast the spell, instead of it automatically being decided by your alignment.

You will not get the HP in the original. I doubt they changed it for EE. The HP is added by the spell that summons the familiar. You will lose 5hp when it dies however.
If you are using EEKeeper, just add 5hp to the character when adding the familiar.

Ah, right - i'll do that in the future then. Though I usually play with the option turned on to give max HP on level up, so i could stand to lose out on 5 HP, it's not that big of an issue.
I like having a familiar for my solo characters without rogue levels - the ferret is good at pick-pocketing for those few rare occasions that it's useful, while the cat has great stealth, so he makes a good scout.

In the original game, you can use the potions trick to cast "find familiar" from a scroll.
Put a potion in the first slot in the upper left corner of your inventory. Right click on the potion and choose "drink potion".
QUICKLY, click on the scroll of Find Familiar and place it in the slot with the potion.
Then IMMEDIATELY hit "G" to go back to the game. The character should cast the spell instead of drinking the potion if you are quick enough. Do NOT put the potion down before hitting "g", keep it "up in the air".

I don't own EE so I don't know if it works in it.
The trick also works to cast spells like "armor" or its higher level sequels from a scroll for a kensai or shapechanger for the really tough areas.
I like armor because it lasts so long, practically until you sleep, and IIRC the "scribe scroll" HLA can give you that scroll as a random drop, so you have a chance of getting more of the scrolls each day.

Nah, this was fixed ages ago in the enhanced edition, as well as the integer overflow trick that allowed you to get 639507 of an item (usually gems to sell for money.)

I never could get that overflow trick to work, and wouldn't it be limited to 65535 or 32767? I thought the inventory used a 16-bit integer for charges and stacking. The number you quoted is nothing special in base 2, 8, or 16, where 65535=FFFF in hex (maximum for a 16-bit number) and 16 ones in binary and 32767 is 7FFF (maximum for a 16-bit signed integer, with the high bit used to indicate positive or negative) or fifteen ones. Your number is 0x9C213 in hex, Oo2341023 in octal, and 10011100001000010011 in binary.

Yeah - i just typed in a random number, i couldn't remember on the fly how much you'd gain using the trick. 65535 would be the one though, as i remember it starting with a 6.
