I can't wait for this to come out. If Diablo 3 is never realised, this looks like the next best thing. Even though I'm more a fan of the 2D isometric thing when it comes to these types of games, I have a feeling Hellgate will be awesome in 3D and will manage to capture the atmosphere of actually being there in Hell on earth. I'm confident the emphasis is still on stats and character building rather than FPS. Let's hope there's a cow level and Cain the Elder makes an unexpected appearance. :D

Looks great. But alittle uncomfortable with a 1st-person view pseudo shooter rpg (although they did mention that its less to do with player skills than stats). Sure, Deus Ex managed to pull it off, but I personally still prefer a 3rd person or over the shoulder view for rpgs.

@Faye: It can be either third or first person. It depends on your preference.

The development team is mostly made up of former Diablo developers.

So no, I don't want a hack and slash. I want real and modern RPGs. :(

I read that if you use a gun, its gonna be 1st person, and a melee weapon, 3rd. Either way, I find it slightly annoying with rpgs these days becoming twitch and reflex games like fpses (cough... *Oblivion* ... cough). I wonder if you can choose to swap perspectives regardless if you are using a gun or melee weapon. I did read that strafing would be involved with projectiles...

I think its gonna be a hack n slash action rpg. Read it somewhere... and since its from Blizzard North anyway, most likely it will be so

Yeah I was always expecting a hack and slash RPG ala Diablo but "modernised", if you will.
