So, my dear Jwen got crashtastic once again, and now, when booting up, theere is about 1/3 chance that I gewt a blue screen of death telling me that there has been a I/O error of some sort and that the system has been stopped. (not sure how to explain in English) the other two thirds of the time I can weither get her up normally, or in safe mode.

BUT - wven wehn she comes up normally, I can't access one of her hard drives. It has been partitioned to E & F, and every time I try accessing them I get to heart that the drive is not formatted; would I like to format it now.

So, I intend to drag the old beast to the shop tomorrow, buit does anyone have any inkling of wtf is wrong with her?

Hmm... well, either the drive is really busted... or either it contains too many bad sectors, thus making it inaccessible.

If it's busted... not much you can do. If it's only defective sectors, I believe data recovery might be possible... there are companies offering the service, but unfortunatly, that doesen't come cheap. But seven years of data IS pretty immense. I guess it's up to you to decide if it's worth it or not.

I'll cross my fingers that your drive isn't busted.

Professional data recovery is out of the question.
