    I agree with what you are saying in principle - that there are a lot of non-voters and so the number of people who voted for Bush is less than half the country. However, you seem to imply that only 15% of the voting public voted for him in the last election. Since he received more votes than Kerry, it would suggest that we had fewer than 30% of the voting age public turn out to vote. I know the voting record in the U.S. is terrible, but is it really that bad? Less than 1/3?

    I'm with Drew and Chandos here. At worst, Reno's screw ups were a result of incompetence. In most of the events sited, it's more like a bad call was made - a mistake. There were no "mistakes" being made with Gonzalez. He was doing what he did deliberately, and knew what the outcome of his actions would be.

    Yeah, the turnout I implied is about 34% too low. 64% of all eligible voters voted in 2004.
