Yeah, if you substituted some of the words in this thread (like "wall" for "warp core") you could easily come up with the gold standard archetypal geek discussion:

"There's no way an Enterprise-class ship could reach warp 8 on only one dilithium crystal. The warp core would melt and they would never have been able to maintain full shields. I mean, I know it's science fiction, but I expect Star Trek to have some sort of plausibility."

Nonsense. Warp 8 would be possible if the dilithium crystal was large enough, and the warp core was cooled with liquid nitrogen.

    :p

Well, the comments about the nerdiness about discussing the wall efficiently killed said discussion. A bit boring that.

Watched the third episode, loved it as well of course. Was hoping to see Sam the Slayer but guess they didnt want to introduce another major character that early favouring Syrio in this episode. I am absolutely loving Jaime, seems like they are humanizing him a bit earlier than the books.

Yeah, I'm really liking the episodes and how they depict the various characters.

I find I really like the intro with the mechanical map and the music as well.

Wow! The books werent exactly subtle about it but tonights episode was really, REALLY blunt in showing just how gay Renly and Loras are. I'm not a fan of gay porn (which is what the scene approached) but the dialogue was actually quite well done.

I read the first book of the series really quite some time ago, but I never moved onto the others. I should have, but I got distracted by Discworld.

I've watched 3 episodes of the TV show now though, and it's pretty superb.

Saw all 6 episodes and those Lannisters sure are shrewd and evil... although I'm actually loving Tyrion's character.

Tyrion is definitely my favorite character on the show. I can see why he has such a following among fans of the book. Peter Dinklage is fantastic.

So far I'm really loving the show. I've never watched a series before where I actually get pissed off when an episode ends.

Speaking of the books - I'd love to read them now, though I'm hesitant because I like the show so much and don't want to spoil things.

They've been ending each episode as such great places in the story. I look forward to every one.

Oh, and the Lannisters are definitely shrewd, but other than Joffrey don't seem evil. Jaime and Cersei are close, but they're both really just pragmatic and ruthless. And perverted of course ;)

HBO put a preview of Episode 7 online for HBO GO (basically NETFLIX for HBO customers), which I watched. VERY good. I won't spoil anything for those who haven't read the books. Let's just say I'm disappointed in myself for trusting a particular character whom I should have seen as being remarkably calculating and evil.

I may have posted this before, but I really believe if I were to ever meet someone with the last name Lannister, I'm not sure I could ever truly trust them.

Loving the quote by Arya's sword-fighting teacher.

There is only one god. His name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death... not today."

Having seen 7 episodes so far, I would have to say: This is the best tv show I have ever seen. Hands down. They keep nailing the casting too. Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister, was SPOT ON.

Yeah, but on the flip side, Lena Headey as Cersei was a nightmate by the casters. She should have been Catelyn, as she was badly cast too - then pick someone else for Cersei. Supporting you though, Tyrion, Jaime, Tywin, Littlefinger & Varys were all quality.
