This can either be filed under funny or sad:

Way back in the 80's, when I was 15, we had a three week "mini-mester" at school between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There were all kinds of cool classes you could take, and I was selected to "teach" a class on Dungeons and Dragons. I had a group every afternoon and I taught them how to play, and eventually took them through Keep on the Borderlands. To make a long story short one of the kids playing had his character killed off by a pack of orcs....and he burst into tears and started crying hysterically (My school only went up to 9th grade, and I had kids from 4-9 in my class)! We couldn't calm him down, and I had to imagine up a party of high level adventures to appear and save the party. They also brought this sorry kid's character back to life. Definately a wierd experience.

Wow, teaching a D&D class? That'd be cool! Around where I live though It'd be a pretty small class.
Funniest thing that comes to mind for D&D encounters was one that occurred in a swampy area, with a lot of decaying plants. The mage, with a pretty low wisdom score, didn't realize that the decaying plants were highly flammable. This was one of those fireball-happy types of mages, by the way. Anyhow, long story short, he fired of a fireball and the whole swamp went up in flames. After that died down most of the enemies and friends alike had been burned to a crisp. There were still some enemies alive, however, so the mage decided a little mopping up was in order. What better way to mop up than a fireball?

Please dont tell me that the whole place burned again. I mean after the first one you would think that most of the fule was gone.
