Well, this one is pretty self-explanatory.

What kind of fireworks do you like??


As for myself, I am a big fan of Roman Candles.

(Although CERTAINLY not to the extent of the cast of a certain MTV show)

 

Hmmm...Well, I am a huge fan of the mortars. I love the boom when they go off, and the display in the sky is just great.

Now, I am a total piro when it comes to fireworks, so my favorite fireworks that I've made myself would either be my Piccolo Racers, or my M-8000 gallon sized bomb. PM me for more info…

Sadly, here in Utah, most of the "cool" fireworks are illegal (i.e. mortars, roman candles) but that has never stopped me from taking the hour-long drive to Evanston, Wyoming to get the "good" stuff. Also, knowing 3 SL County Sheriff officers helps on two levels, getting the good fireworks, and not getting in trouble by the local cops.

 

I like the really big, splashy, showy ones that have to be set off by the local fire department around 10 pm. so it's dark enough to see all the colors. I especially like the ones that start as a golden spray, then turn into a shower of glittering silver.

This time of year, the fireflies are putting on a pretty good show, too.

 

You know you americans are pretty lucky with fireworks. I'll tell you how fireworks are handled in the Netherlands.

You are NEVER allowed too ignite or use fireworks during the following time:

Januari first 3:00 A.M till December 31 8:00 A.M

That's why there are so many many accidants while using fireworks in the Netherlands, some examples: kiddos throwing 'beton strijkers' (I don't know the english for that, but suffice to say if you hold it in your hand when it goes off, you're arm is pretty much gone) at other people for fun. People loosing fingers to fireworks, people making selfmade firework bombs.

Does this kind of stuff happens in countries where buying and using fireworks is completely legal during any time of the year?

I too grew up in Utah, where everything is lame and watered down...including fireworks. I inadvertantly developed a love for Snakes. You know, those little charcoal pellots that grow big long snakes of ash out of them? Lame, but still my favorite. Roman candles run a close second. Second degree burns are no fun without them!

 

I've actually built a few pipe bombs. Wait...checking...cool, I still have all four limbs. I'm lucky though...not one of the brightest ideas me and a few unnamed tattooed freaks I call friends have cooked up.

As far as real fireworks...hmm...when I was a kid I really liked those little tanks that would shoot balls of fire and send sparks flying out of the back. We would aim two of them at each other and... oh, the memories. Good times...

 

Those are illegal here now. Some kid ate one a few years back and I think he died from it. As a kid, I used to line up a whole row of them on my evil neighbor’s doorstep and light them all quickly with my dad's blowtorch, and run away.

Another thing I used to do is rig up a model rocket filled with tons of powder taken from mortars and create a patriotic "missile".

Another thing my friends and me would do is have bottle rocket wars with each other. Basically you light a bottle rocket and drop it down a metal pipe with one end closed off and then aim it at one another.

 

The most fun I've had with fire works was last holidays. Me and my friend went to some construction site and buried (sp?) a lot of roman candles in one of the dirt roads, with some of those fireworks that scream at you. All of them on one long fuse. We hid in a near by forest lit the fues when a big truck was driving by and BANG BANG BANG.

Another time at the same place we fired fireworks over a hill with a sling shot, to where all the people where having lunch. We got caught then

But My all time favourite would have to be the buzzy bee. Flies around randomly, screaming. Hehe, my cat use to chase afterthem. But they, as well as sky rockets are band now.

 

That's so idiotic. Of course a stupid kid died when he ate it. Same with a million other things that size that shouldn't be eaten. Yet another case of irresponsible parents blaming some company for the mismanagement of their own children. It says "keep out of reach of children" on the box for a reason! Morons.

Ok - changed my mind, I don't miss Utah...again.

 

I don't remember what type of firework it was but my favorite was one that my father tried to launch several years ago. He set up on a school football field with the fireworks in a clay flower pot full of either sand or dirt. Everything was going fine until he accidentally put one in upside down. He lit it and when it went off all we heard was a dull "wump". We thought we had a dud until we went forward to investigate and found shards of pottery everywhere within a five metre radius of the launch site. We all though this was pretty damned funny but it got better still the following day when we went back to check out the damage and found a black circle burnt into the turf.

 

Its homemade all the way for me.

All you gotta do is get any kind of bluerints for a bomb off the internet, research household chemicals that change color when burned, get some casing, throw it all together, bind it with duck tape, throw it in a *potato bazooka* set the potato gun upright like a mortar, set a fuse from a safe distance away to the gun, and pray to god the fireworks dont blow up in the gun. And o yea, make sure you are in some remote, deserted place.

 

When I was in high school I found a mail order place that would ship to Massachusetts (where fireworks are illegal). What a summer that was. My favorite thing we got was an aircraft carrier. It was about the size of a paperback book and looked like an aircraft carrier. When you lit it a jet of flame would come out the back and push it down the driveway a couple of feet. Then a cannon in the front would fire a couple of blasts. The grand finale was there were two little butterfly fireworks on the flight deck that would spin and take off into the sky. We had such fun with those things.

 

m-80's all the way they are illegal in all states but not on indian reservations apparently they have waterproof fuses that can catch very dry grass on fire. OOPS

 

We had a band on fireworks this year because of a "drought."

We use to take the shells that you lower into a tube and tie six together, and light it..we used to think it riveled disney land, till we went there and saw them...

But it was some of the best stuff in a remote, rural area in New Mexico.
