Favorite 1st person shooter

I'm proud to say that I enjoyed nearly every FPS i bought. (Quake1, Quake2, Quake3, Jedi Knight 1 & 2, MOH - AA and so on) But I really love Quake1. For it's crappy graphic and it's high gameplay. Anyone tried it in Multiplayer ?

 

Outlaws - a brilliant and unappriciated western FPS. The music is the best I've ever heard in a FPS.

 

OMG outlaws!!!??? I played a demo of that and it has got to have been one of the only demos that i have finished without having fun in, ever. I mean there's no skill in it it's got an option to make you invulnerable. The AI is shocking and the weapons have no originality at all. Therefore i conculde that IMHO outlaws was a big pile of crap

Anyway, I realise it's not a game for your usual FPS crowd. I was (and still am) quite weary of rocket launchers, plasma rifles, flame throwers..bla, bla...

It was refreshing to find a game which had more normal weapons. In all other FPSs one of the first weapons is a pistol/colt/handgun which you discard as soon as you get the next weapon. In this game all the weapons are useful at some point, but your six-shooter is a friend from the first moment to the last. Apart from that, the main strenghts are the music and the atmosphere - I felt as though I was in a Sergio Leone film.

 

Well in the demo i played you could go to options and tick an invulnerability box. No challenge.

 

of course there's no challenge if you tick it...which begs the question: WHY did you tick it?

 

I didn't tick it until after i'd played through the demo already. And it made it worse. My point is what is the point of leaving it in, i'd undestand if it was just a type in cheat or in a debug mode but it really shouldn't ship with one IMO. As for the weapons hmmm i like getting bigger and badder weapons to defeat bigger and badder enemies. Maybe it's just me and my opinion.

Err, yeah I think it wasn't a bad game at all. I liked its atmosphere as well. I love westerns where you get to gunsling. It got a bit repetitive as I recall though. There were some weird things though like you could see aliens abducting cows and such (easter eggs)

My fav. would be quake 1 as well. That was one of the first fps with good graphics that I've played (after the doom series) and none after that could get me as jumpy in front of that monitor.
Maybe I should try that alien vs. predator thing

 

My fave FPS is Half-Life. Nothing beats the multiplayer fragfests with that beauty..

 

Medal of Honor: Allied assult, is a great game. I don't play that much FPS, but I do like Thief, and MoH: AA

 

Quake three:arene and thief!!!

 

Half Life will never and can never be beaten. it creates an atmosphere that nothing else can.

And since when has theif been a bloody fps?

 

Return to castle wolfenstein and of course Half-Life

 

Definately Deus Ex. I also like jedi outcast and serious sam: second encounter.

 

Star Wars - Obi Wan's Adventures...probably because I have a crush on him.

 

I Realy love the first Doom!

 

I feel left out, I don't play FPS on PC. The only one I've realy liked though was Perfect Dark on N64. Except for Quake Arena with I played multiplayer at my friends house.

 

I have no first person shooter favorites. I am one of those few people who get physically ill when I attempt to play those games. Poor Me. I am missing out on a whole genre of games.

 

Mine have got to be Jedi Knight (though I disliked MOTS) and Jedi 2, both great fun .

 

Got to love the old Wolfenstein game. Simple yet challenging. I also liked Return of the Castle, but the old one still gets my vote.
