Error on Startup

    Can someone tell me why, when I try to start up Balder's Gate, I get "An Assertion failed in D\Dev\Baldur\UIControlbuttons.cpp at line number 302"?

    I have the latest patch installed per Sorcerers. For whatever reason my damn computer cannot find the online manual, so if that's any help, I don't seem to have any access to it.

    Do you have the 3CD version of the game by any chance? That one is already patched, and patching it again has been known to cause that issue.

    Another possibility is that you've installed the wrong patch -- e.g., you either installed the regular BG1 patch on the game with TotSC installed, or installed the TotSC patch on a game without TotSC installed, or you installed the wrong one for your region.

    I'd back up your /save and /mpsave folders to keep your saved games and then reinstall the game completely, doing a Full install (custom install with all checkboxes checked) -- and then make sure you install the right patch.

    You do not need both patches if you have TotSC installed. You just install the TotSC patch.

    I think the issue would be that I accidentally installed the BG 1 patch as well as the TotSC patch. Just not paying attention as usual I guess.

    Here's off to reinstall.
