Well, seeing as how all the other Bioware games have references to British and Anglo-Saxon literature, I was wondering if anyone here found such an allusion in this game. I haven't been playing it much, so don't actually remember if I have or not.

In BG2, Marlowe and VanGoethe is a reference. VanGoethe is a reference to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who was a 19th century German writer who wrote a novel called Faust. The basic plot of this story was that an astrologer sells his soul to Satan, and finally gains redemption through the intervention of God. The name Marlowe is a reference to Christopher Marlowe, who wrote a play which was an earlier version of this play. Marlowe lived during the same period as Shakespeare.

In IWD, Hrothgar (mayor of Easthaven) shares his name with the Prince of the Danes in Beowulf.

Yeah I like Marlowe's plays! Anglo-Saxon literature is just behind Greek philosophy on my favourites list!
