I didn't fight the dragon in your personal hell, but i did fight the silver dragon once, I died quickly, but as i said only once and it normaly takes more than one turn at a dragon doesn't it?

Only in the Dragon Lance world, I think. They treat Dragons as fodder there, from the books I've read.

I don't think a dragon can be a familier to a mage, even in Dragon Lance. (Not counting psudodragons or fairy dragons)

In Dragon Lance, you can be a Solomic Knight (which is somewhere between a paladin and fighter), who gets to ride a dragon. Then the dragon is more of an NPC - intelligent, friendly, and still not to be messed with.

In the Dragon Lance story line, they are definitely not fodder (at first). The character's first encounter with a black dragon is almost "game over" for the whole group! Just the dragon fear stopped nearly everyone.

The later (and more poorly written) books downplay this a ton!

you can summon a dragon to fight with with cheats. but i died right away, but it could be a surefire way of going up levels.

[IMG] so if u kill the silver dragon it only gives u the stuff u need for the tanner thing and that human skin armour which only chaotic evil can wear?
red dragon gives u the paladin sword and red dragon scales for the armour
shadow dragon gives u the shadow dragon scales and some gems
but what do u get from the other dragons and what are the best tactics for each dragon im not takling about those tactics everyone takes against dragons they are good but i beleave that its better making stuff that works against different ones.

I´d suggest to do it the more traditional and IMHO more satisfying way: Hack`n`slash :)

Place some melee fighters around him and let them attack altogether with your mages/ clerics opening some spell fire (breach/ magic missiles/ lower resistance and whaever else you consider to be useful). Or summon some creatures to keep the dragon at a distance .... and take him on with ranged weapons. Whatever you like ;)

Btw-1: the shadow dragon has the scroll of crom faeyr :)

Btw-2: human flesh armor can be worn by all evil creatures and is an excellent leather armor: it offers +4 on all rescue throws and +20% Magicresistence and has AC 3

Btw-3: I´m not totally sure here but I think the black dragon in Sulandessalar has the elven chain mail +4 on his body - - like all this neat elven stuff to late to be really useful in the game

[IMG] An idea - the shadow dragon is undead so I have some problems to imagine finger of death take effect on him (I actually never tried that) ... Has anyone tried daystar´s effect (sunray IIRC) on him and some these counter undead cleric spells or the mace of disruption?

Has anyone been able to turn it with his cleric? :D

If I am wrong and he is undead I say hack your character to level 40 and make big dragon chunks with turn undead!

TIN_MAN - Do you see the second post in this thread? And the ones after it? If you don't have anything new to add, please don't post (especially incorrectly)...
