Stop complaining about how the dragons are a joke. I fought them with my sorcerer and got spanked. 3 times before I won against the red. If you fight them without the dragon armor they are a lot harder

[IMG] Dragons are a joke. I can solo all of them with my sorcerer without breaking a sweat. Dragons should be near impossible so it gives me something to do for a couple days. ;)

You´re definitely too tough for whiny little dragons. Enjoy yourself with increasing the difficulty level. As long as you´re not using finger of death all the time a dragon´s double damage should keep you busy :D

I didn´t realise it was green. It was just dark colored, so I noticed it to be black - maybe I have t adjust my graphics.

Yeah, it was pretty dark for me too, but I've heard others say it's green so... <shrug>

The black one in Suddelnassar IS really tough. I had no problem with the Shadow Dragon, the red one was more difficult and now, this damn Black dragon...

I found all dragon-fights to be tough.

My first fight against the shadow dragon in the forgotten temple - that was really heavy. It took me about 40 minutes and it was really challanging, hairy and exciting.
Only Minsc died (resurrectable), three of my party members were level drained (including my main char who was down to lvl-3). Thanxy...however was killed by Jaheira with her sling +2 or +3 using sunstones.

The fight against Firekraag was difficult, just like Adalon and all the other dragons.

My shortest and least satisfying fight was when I used finger of death on the black dragon in Sulandessalar. It took me some 3 seconds.

I found the Black Dragon to be pretty easy. All I did was have Imoen cast Finger of Death and he went down in a second. But if you don't want to kill him that way then just watch out for that entanglement like spell that he likes to cast.

Black dragons are not inherently very good fighters, nor do they prefer straight on confrontations. It should sneak up on you, hide, make hit and run attacks, and attack with superior numbers. Damn AI. :p

Syl: Standard adult (not mature, old, very old, ancient, wyrm, great wyrm) dragons should be easy enough for a 10+ level party to face. I've solo-killed dragons with a Sorcerer, Cavalier, and Monk, and my only complaint with fighting them (the thing that normally makes them damned near invincible) is that most of them are indoors and cannot fly around. The black is even outside, why does it not make fly-by attacks? Damn AI.

If I saw a dragon fly in a game made with the Infinity Engine, I'd start searching for the portal back to my home dimension. :D
It'd probably take them half a year just to get the animations and code for flying dragons implemented, not to mention it'd probably take a 2ghz CPU to display, hehe.

[IMG] Heh, heh... All they'd need for the Black Dragon is a few of those acid-trap animations falling out of the sky onto your party! :)

[IMG] The good thing about dragons is that they are honorable opponent's you can fight without relying on NOT getting killed by something. For examle finger of death, a backstab when you enter a room and so on.
If you get backstabbed...it's tough. If that attack misses you can bash 'em to bits.
Never underestimate an enemy though. A large group of kobolds (yes!) or hobgoblins can be devastatinh with their missile fire.
The bad thing about BG is just that you can cheat like hell. For exaple my characther.
Guess what his armour class against missiles is? -17! I never designed him with that in mind. Just a few skill points and a fortress shield +3. Or beholders...they are SO HARD that your only chance is to use something
lame to defeat them. A pity. When I took on Firkraag I was WAY too low level. So my only chance was to use traps. Damn.

Slaying beholders is a joke with the shield of Balduran. I mean, just drive the guy with it near them and watch the beholders kill themselves in oh so many imaginative ways. Turning themselves to stone and subsequently blowing themselves up is a personal favorite. I found myself attacking with all party members first and only then with the guy holding the shield just to get a taste of what they've got.
Really, SoB makes it all too easy. Heh. SoB. Get it? :D

[IMG] Groan, Tal, that was bad :D Anyway, I thought the black dragon was nasty. That entanglement and that horrible spell it cast against you that just takes Hp after Hp, while it cause syou to miscast magic. The first time I fought it, it wiped me out really quickly. It wasn't even funny, but then I wasn't really trying. The second time I decided I'd take it down using just magic(why not-my party is so mage and cleric/druid spell heavy). I opened a can on him. And no I didn't use any instant death spells. Just good old damage spell after damage spell. Had his resistances lowered and miscast magic on him as well as insect palgue. After that it was just rain death down on him. Heh Heh, great fun, right Boo?

[IMG] To kill fiirkrag I summoned 2 Fire elementals, 2 Aerial servants and had Anomen Gate a couple of pit fiends. The Elementals Kept Fiirkrag busy from the front whilst the pit fiends ate into his health from the back.

Whilst this was going on I'd cast lower magic resistance on him and pounded him with magic missiles, acid arrows and chain lightning-
(This also hit the fiends :().

By now he was "injured" and my party was in a sorry state (2 grey dead). But this is the clincher, the pit fiends attracted firkraags attention when the Elementals perished and he kicked hell into them. Before the last one croaked he inflicted Demon Fear on the
dragon. At this point he was "near death" and Brauhex (my paladin from BG1 and old friend) went in to reclaim the Carsomyr and the 64, 000 experience points with his trusty (non-adamamite and remains whole in
light) drow sword. I did come back and do this at a later date of course... but it was a pretty good fight as fights go.

Gee, the hardest dragon, had to have been Adalon...

She kicked my ass so much that filthy white inbred (little Blink 182 quote)

Anyway, The black dragon was insanely easy, I reloaded once due to someone going splat(dying beyond resurrection, I forget who, probably Haer'Dalis)...but I still killed it. So after reloading it, Minsc walked up with the Vorpal sword and got in a solid hit after I breached the bloody thing and got rid of his stoneskin and then boom! Dead Dragon.

Firkraag was even easier ...it was weird, he used red dragon breath, which I feared so much from hearing my friend talk about it 'splat'ing three people at a time. The thing is, he casted it on Aerie and did like..30 damage to her and 10 damage to Jaheira and Korgan standing nearby...

    Then died shortly after...

Hmm, now to talk about Adalon being the hardest one...for some reason..she was hard, oh yeah...her icy breath thing...man, that was a pain, she kicked my ass with that. Cause it'd splat my people, instantly! Turn them into ice! She was a bitch...I managed to kill her, but noticed that if I did, that it would be the mean way out. I saved her eggs, and vowed to come back and kill her later...naturally, she wasn't there...bah.

Hmm, the other dragons in the game were rather killable as well...And I agree, they were too easy..I thought I was gonna have to reload like hundreds of times and have all my people die as my kensai drove his Katana into the Dragon's heart with his last ounce of strength!...but nah...wasn't..

    Too bad.

I haven't fought Firkagg yet, but the Black Dragon with the unspellable name was very easy to kill, in my opinion. Must have been a very young Dragon, ya? Just a few Lower Resistances, Greater Malisons, and a single Chromatic Orb. (Tremble before the might of the lvl 1 instant-death spell.) I have a suggestion for BGIII- lets have a great wyrm or something. Now thats a challenge.
