    I had high, very excited, hopes for this movie. I can only hope the teaser trailer is not all the good stuff because the trailer was AWFUL! 2 minutes long and NO magic? WTF IS this movie about?

    I suspect a LOT of it is going to focus on the back story, about how he forced himself to become a better man after losing the hand skills to properly perform surgery.

    I'm disappointed they're doing a backstory film for him. He's one of my favorite comic book characters and the reason I like the character is because of his "mysterious" persona. He's supposed to be one of the more discreet marvel comic book heroes, despite the fact that if you try hard enough you can probably find some trace of his influence/presence in all major marvel story arcs.

    An ideal introduction would be Dr. Strange suddenly showing up in one of the Infinity Gem arcs from the Avengers/Guardians of the Galaxy movies. No warning, no backstory, just "Oh, hey guys. I'm the resident Sorcerer Supreme and I've been doing damage control on these things for some time now, glad to see you people finally decided to stop being angsty/put your love/hate relationships on hold and do something constructive with your time."
    An ideal Dr. Strange movie would be a casual look into everyday dealings of the being known as Dr. Strange. Discreetly recovering a cursed magic item that was making some random major marvel character go berserk in the morning, a quick jaunt into the astral plane for a routine meetup with magical allies/rivals/enemies at noon (lots of possible cameos here) and a nasty fight with Shuma-Gorath/Dormammu that he only barely wins by evening. Just another "normal" day for earth's Sorcerer Supreme.

    Look at that thing, it's pathetic. Totally unbefitting the sorcerer supreme.

    They have to do a backstory -- not everyone is into comics and they'll confuse newbie viewers without giving them a history. A sad necessity, but one I'm willing to put up with for the sake of a Marvel movie.

    I don't think a movie devoted to the origin story is entirely necessary for every single superhero. There are other ways of introducing characters.

    I think flashbacks would be enough of a background if done right. But a SORCERER SUPREME with NO magic in the entire movie? Crap :(
    I know nothing about him except he is the "Sorcerer Supreme". As for when he gained that title I have no idea. Regardless, if it's a movie about a mage there SHOULD be some magic. The teaser trailer showed none :(
    From what I've seen so far, I wont be going to see it. I'll wait for Netflix. I'm not going to go see it just because it has the Marvel comic behind it.
    Damn I hope they get a better trailer. One with SOME magic. I've been very eager for this movie ever since I heard about it.

    I'd say give it a chance. Amongst the Marvel characters, Dr. Strange definitely has one of the more interesting back stories.
