*MY TWO CENTS ON DOOM*

I have seen Doom with my very own eyes and I wasn't disappointed the slightest bit. The first-person scenes were just astounding (the chainsaw fight is just pure bliss). The monsters of the game were very well recreated, although I was somewhat disappointed of not seeing one of the famous Hell Knights.

This movie is definitively heavy stuff. They haven't cut the slightest bit in the violence, and, sweetly, there is an appearence of the BFG aka The Big ****ing Gun. The movie is rated 16+, yet the changed the name of the BFG for "bio-force gun". WTF? The movie is violent as hell, and Big ****ing Gun was censored? Whatever.

And YES, Dwayne ends up almost alone. He is with the only remaining marine. The end is a very surprising twist. I won't say more.

Overall, Doom was two hours of pure pleasure and was worth every penny I spent on my movie ticket. Just see it. Pretty much says it all.

 

That fact alone makes it unlike the game. The marine was by himself throughout Doom. He had no sidekicks or accomplices or even those PDA message thingies (iirc).

Well, what arms manufacturer would call a gun Big F****** Gun? id has yet to confirm BFG actually stand for what gamers think it stands for. And there are different methods of getting an 'R', the least of which is violence. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was originally rated NC-17 (after some severe editting by Kevin Smith) and that was for all the swear words!

Yes, I plan on seeing it, too, only I'll be my ever cheapo self and wait for it to come out on DVD.

 

Whaaaaaat? Big ****ing Gun is a nice name. (Dwayne himself calls it the Big ****ing Gun)

And kuemp, the twist at the end of the movie makes it even more interesting. I know I couldn't have possibly waited for it's coming out on DVD. [spoiled kid imitation] Hell, I wanna see it again!!! It's too damn good!!!

 

What? John Romero's head gets blown up...*again*? If I ever get that anxious to see Doom, I play the game until the feeling passes and I have no clue where my Doom CD is - probably collecting dust somewhere.

Saw it last weekend, had too much time at hand and didn't want to think a lot. The FX were good but then again, I doubt that movies nowadays would crap at this anymore. I'm not exactly a fan of the game and was not that impress with the story or FPS views or the movie as a whole. I did enjoy the "Pinky" (or was that "Plinky") mutant FPS fight scene but that didn't last very long. Sarge, is kinda wierd, at the start you get the impression that he is the kind of leader you look up to, much like Arnie in Predator or Willis in Tears in the Sun kind of leader. Well, he suddenly change midway. It's also kinda wierd that Sarge would just go ahead and get himself the BFG, and for what? We only see him poped a couple of shots, and both missed the target. And no, no, no, we don't get to see him shoot some Doom monster to oblivion with it. As a matter of fact, John Grimm with his regular gun had more kills... I mean shown to us. Sarge did manage to wipe out all those monster (I assume) but it happens via a 1 second blackout of the screen. So what was the purpose of the BFG? Just to show us some cool CGI as it cuts through concrete and steel. Honestly, something we or the film can can do without. I also find it weird that such a big and importatnt facility didn't have a single military personnel or a security guard to watch over it. And worse, you have a half-man watching over an all important teleportation device all by his lonesome (well, actually... suddenly by his lonesome). Now, somebody mentioned about a "twist"... I say... What twist? You can see it coming by a mile. And lastly, sad to say, the wrinkles are showing on Rosamund Pike, I liked her more in her James Bond movie.

You might like the action or the gore but I rate it 2/5.
