    Yes, I think there's a trasgression here.


    The original meaning of "barbarian"(ancient Greek) is he-who-doesn't-speak-Greek. But then those who didn't speak Greek were uncivilised, hence the current meaning of "barbarian".

    Lol, ethnocentricity is a funny thing.

    The word "civilization" is coming from Latin. It's derived from citizen and "civilis". To be civilized means beeing a Roman citizen or become a Roman citizen. The Greeks were not Roman citizens. That made them to barbarians which had to be subdued.

    Hm, ethnocentricity is like a bigger form of talking to oneself.
