Aquired several secondary D&D books from Media Play (big box retailer going out of business in the US) for 40% off. $18 US, instead of $30. Picked up the Deities book for the extra info. But it seems the writers just gave each go or goddess to someone to work without consulting the others. Some of the most powerful were minor demigods from the Norse mythology. Over 1400 HP vs 1080 for Lolth. Also their feats and skills make no sense. Most of the sea/water gods have no swim skill, yet Lolth does. Did I waste my $ on this one.

Well stats isnt what makes most the gods powerfull really. If you take alook in the forgotten realms "Faits & Phantoms" forexample, you will notice that Tempus could probably beat anyone in combat. but he is not the best "ranked" god there etc.

And i was not entirelly impressed by that book either (Deities and Demigods) I basically only use it as a material book for how making gods work, not the "examples" listed.

All in all this seems to be one thing i feel to many people ignore nowdays. Most things outside of PHB is actually "suggestions" and not stoned rules. Forexample Prestige classes, the first thing listed in DMG about prestige classes is that they are "Examples" and should be used as guidelines for making own PrC's :)

So in short i have never allowed any of my players ever to take a prestige class they didnt make up themselves.

I own that book too... and wanna say that you didn't waste your coins. Book will give you much informations about gods. Those stats might be quite ridicilous but they are gods, not normal NPC characters.
