    Gavin, could you give an example of what you mean about Vader's outlook on life? In what way is it more like a cleric than a mage, I'm trying to see what you mean.

    Actually I completely agree with Gavin. The use of the Force is not predicated on a penetrating intellect but on a powerful expression of the will. It is not the kind of thing you would expect to learn from a book of esoteric knowledge. You rely on intuition and (self) belief, not memorization. Now, this may open the door for a discussion of Vader-as-sorcerer, but then we have to mention the so-called "heavy-handed religious overtones" of Lucas's Force. This could go on and on, I suppose--magic is described as powerful, but neutrally so, as opposed to the Force, which is described along a discrimination of good from evil--but that's the rough outline of my answer. For Gavin. :)

    Yeah, they are a lot like monks, except they wield those lightsabres...which is the whole complication with this discussion as no good equivalent of that weapon seems to exist in D&D.

    Some of my second edition PnP books referred to the Jedi as Psionicists. I'd run them as Fighter/psionocists -- is there a mod that has psionic powers for characters?

    You really don't get it. Bastard Swords are made to be used in both ways. Other weapons might have the possibility but with Bastard Swords it is inheritent to the whole design and purpose of the sword.

    I have to bump this threat up since I'm curious as to the compatibility of the old sound sets with the new Enhanced Edition?


    Really kicking myself right now since I couldn't get around to buying it yet and now looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while longer while they get legal issues resolved...


    I also need to ask about the new Vader soundset that was published here somewhat recently... Was he trying to improve the sound quality of my original soundset or did he have a problem with it? From the decription I couldn't tell...

    I Just hope everyone who downloaded my version liked/likes it... Kinda nice knowing you created something (albeit ever so small) that's lasted throughout the years...

    You can still get BG:EE on Amazon among other places. I'm not sure about the soundset compatibility but I haven't seen anyone say anything about them not being usable any more.

    As for the new Vader soundset, I don't really know... I missed the fact that we already had one up. Maybe he's overlooked it as well...
