Since I went down to the game store today, I thought I'd ask about two titles I just saw today. The first I'm sure alot of you have heard of: Dark Age of Camelot. The second, I'm not even sure that's the name. It was something along those lines; could have been Athelon or something similar. It's tag line was "Played any good books recently". It was a seven chapter game, single player, and it looked pretty good from the box pics at least. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has seen them or played them. Are they worthwhile? What are they like in general? Would anyone recommend them?

Sorry Crawl I don;t much about these but was going to post some links for you. Unfortunately my interent conection speed has died lately and it's takeing forever to load a page. I have heard of DAoC and thought it was a MMORPG i.e. online only and a monthly fee to pay. Still I think the press were getting excited in the build up to release :

[IMG] Eh, DAoC seems to be the most promising MMORPG out there. You just against MMO's in general, Extremist?

Only two things that bother me about DAoC: one, death penalty isn't harsh enough. With four characters, seems like you could let death be a more permanent affair. Just my personal preference...

The other is just something I'm not sure of. There are attack styles for fighters... if these are initiated by clicking/drawing the mouse a certain way, I'm against it. I hate having the particular way I manipulate a mouse count for so much in an RPG.

DAoC is in my opinion inded the most promising MMORPG out there at the moment.

As for the perma-death thing, you just cant make something like that work in a MMORPG. People arent looking for ultra-realism, just good PvP, and that game delivers excellently. And four characters is the *least* amount of characters *any* MMORPG has out there.

And the interface is also very good, making excecutions of attacks not a problem in the slightest.

As for Athalon Anthology, cant honestly say I've heard of it.

Looks like I'm gonna have to go back to the game store and see exacly what the name of that title is. It looked(based solely on the screen shots on the box) promising, but then so does PoR:2. It's fairly class restrictive, so not very dnd like. But it could be interesting, and thankfully it's cheap (I guess it's new, it was in the new games area so I dunno) so I suppose I could buy it and see. Anyway, if you've heard anything like it, sound off and maybe it'll jog my memory.

Well I finally figured out the name of the game. It's Siege of Avalon-Anthology. It seems to be on further inspection a collection of short RPG chapters released seperately, I beleive 7, and now all packaged together. I don't have a clue when these chapters were supposedly released, but it looks somewhat current. If anyone has heard of it, I'm interested as to what it is or like.

This has been out for some time; I remember when the first free chapter came out I thought about downloading it, but just never did.

Basically it's an episodic RPG that you can download which chapters you want (though I think you have to have at least the first two). The first one is free while the others cost $9.95. It appears there are 6 chapters currently.

And as you've seen, someone has boxed up the 6 chapters on CD for $29.95.
