BC and Alberta have started to ease off on their restrictions somewhat. Now I can buy my Double Big-Gulps from 7-11 again, so I guess that's progress from my perspective ... :D

Nah, I buy the Diet stuff. And no, I don't believe the anti-aspartame propaganda either. :p

Take a look at the first couple of ingredients in the "diet stuff" - I am assuming you don't have PKU (phenylketonuria), so that the aspartame won't give you seizures and the like. The "bad" ingredient in aspartame occurs naturally in a bunch of other things, so if you aren't especially at risk via PKU, it's no big deal.

The more important ingredients are usually acids, like phosphoric acid, for example in diet colas and citric acid in other diet sodas. If you are drinking double big gulps every day, that's a lot of acid for your body to be neutralizing. If your diet doesn't lean heavily towards base you need to neutralize the acid from within. Guess what the biggest source of base in your body is? Your bones. Additionally, excessive phosphorus (if your drink of choice is a diet cola) has a separate correlation with loss of bone density. Plus, either of these acids is terrible for the enamel of your teeth and can lead to much more dental work than you might otherwise have needed.

In certain situations, you can actually be leaching calcium from your bones if you drink enough diet soda. It's a slow process, but you sure don't need to increase your chances of osteoperosis. Just sayin'.

There's also a couple of studies that appear to tie diet soda to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, but if your weight is otherwise in control, that's probably not a huge concern to you. It really all depends on how much of it you drink - if it's a double big gulp every day, that's really, really not great for you. If it's one every now and then, big deal, you'll be fine. Pretty much every food in moderation won't cause you issues absent specific allergies.

To me, diet soda does not equal enjoying. I find it's taste to be revolting. If I am going to drink soda at all, I will drink regular root beer or ginger ale.

It's not like I'm a monk. My latest enjoyment is White Russians, as I have an abundance of vodka and might as well use it. Those taste like coffee milkshakes with a hammer buried in them and are quite yummy.

I just opened a new box of masks I git from Costco last week and the string/elastic seemed a little tight when I put it on to go grocery shopping. It popped off while waiting in line at the checkout.

Does that mean I have a big head?

Or that the size was too small. There are different sizes.

They are handing them out here, but if you're unlucky, you get a very big size or a very small size, and it's more or less useless.

In one of Dennis Leary’s stand ups, No Cure for Cancer, he talks about not wanting the last 10 Yes as they are bed-ridden, diaper wearing years. Its his reasoning for still smoking. It’s a hilarious piece (... and stand up in general).

So anybody want to trade 49 slightly too small masks for a similar box of bigger ones?
There was only one size available at Costco.

The problem is that they are the type with two loops on each end that go over your ears, and those strings just snap off because they are too tight. Another quarter inch of elastic string on each side is all I'd need and it would be fine.

Tie a length of string between the elastic loops so it will fit comfortably around your head.
