For the enclosure I used the same fiber board you saw in the previous pictures where the clock PCB was mounted. I didn't use any CAD software to design the parts; I just freehanded drawings and made some measurements on the final article to get dimensions that would fit. Then I used a hot glue gun to glue the fiber board parts together.

For the face, I cut a piece of 8"x10" 3/32" thick glass down to a size that would slip in front of the clock face PCB and the fiber board face frame.

OK! So now it's time for the pictures of the final form in its working state!

Here's a picture taken with the flash enabled so the detail of the clock face is more easily seen, but the LEDs are a bit washed out:

The time/date it is showing is Thursday, Jan 31 7:43:34 PM

Here's a picture taken a few seconds later with the flash disabled that gives a better idea of how bright the LEDs are:

The time/date it is showing is Thursday, Jan 31 7:43:49 PM

So that's it for the hardware aspects of this project. There's a lot more software this time around to decode the WWVB signal, to convert the time code (that gives only the day of the year) to the day of the month and the day of the week, etc., but as last time unless someone expresses interest, I won't bore you with the details. :)

That is fantastic BTA! Thank-you for taking us through the creation of this. If you do ever decide to mass produce I want one for Christmas :D.

Hehe. You'll be first on the list :) I'm sure a mass-produced enclosure would look better too ;)

Oh, and just to let you all know: The switch to Daylight Savings Time last Sunday was handled flawlessly by the software :D

Oh? I thought everyone's main concern would be the reliable determination of the day of the week based only on the year and the day of the year given in the WWVB time code... ;)

That was my second concern. My third is does it come in cobalt blue? ;)

Oooh... Cobalt blue glass enclosure. That would be cool. Probably not really within my range of skills though :)

Cool stuff... though it definitely needs a glossy black enclosure that all the hip gadgets come in these days. ;)

Yeah the bare fiber board isn't the sexiest enclosure; I should probably at least paint it, but I'm too lazy :)

I've heard "Once you go black you never go back". Do I really want to make such a momentous decision? ;)
