    @Earl: Well, when I drew up this party, I had a certain particular playing style in mind. Bear with me while I recap the party I had recommended.

    Inquisitor
    Wizardslayer
    Archer(crossbows)
    Archer(shortbows)
    Berserker
    Kensai

    If you will notice, I put the Inquisitor and Wizard Slayer in first, Archers next, Berserker, and LAST, the Kensai.

    My explanation for why I would add a Kensai is because, usually the way I play with the characters would be:

    -----------------------------------------------
    (bad guy)(bad guy)(bad guy)
    Tanks ->[Inquisitor] [Berserker] [Wizardslayer]

    Ranged--> [Archer xbows] [Archer shortbows]
    ----------------------------------------------

    That was pretty crude, but what I want to show, is that the Kensai will be used to flank the enemies from behind in such a way that the enemies will not be focused on attacking him, hence, his low AC not being that much of an issue, because the heavy duty tanks are there to soak up the hits.

    In this setup, I am counting on the armored tanks to keep the enemies fire drawn, while the Archers riddle them with all manner of pointy things ( :D ) whilst the Kensai comes up from behind and decimates them with his speedy attacks! ( :D )

    Also, in this setup, I have 3 tanks, 2 anti-mage warriors (which are critical for any success in this game), a modicum of magic, such as the lvl 3 druid spells for the Archers, the special abilities of the Inquisitor, and the item conflicts are kept to a minimum.

    Imagine having to equip 6 warriors with the best of armor, accessories AND weapons!! It'd be a nightmare to get them the best of everything eventually and STILL have all of them similarly overpowered equipment.

    Archers with leather armors, tanks with Full Platemail Armors and the Kensai runs around in his skin!! :shake:

    Anyway...the way I see it, its overkill playing this setup. The Archers are going to be doing all the killing, as long as the bad guys are kept away from them, which my three tanks do very nicely.

    To wind this essay up, I would say, that the Kensai is as necessary as the Archers (who are the backbone of the party), to cause a load of extra damage to the enemy.

    Instead of using a kensai my party uses a Barbarian who thanks to his greater speed will get to his targets faster than a Kensai.

    It's also perhaps worth noting that the best weapons for a "fire brigade" fighter like this is two handed weapons so that he isn't as likely to get stuck trying to find an opening in which to hit his target. This also has the added benefit of often keeping the enemies far enough away that they can't hit you.

    I never specified what weapons they would use, except for the Archers. Well, thats upto the person playing, and depending on his whims and fancies.

    But, the to hit and damage bonuses a Kensai gets are a big advantage in this, I would say. That is the deciding factor for me. Extra damage-->Faster kills.

    I would have made the wizard slayer a dwarf, given him points in axes and hammers and equip him with throwing axes and hammers. Does the same job but you get extra damage to your attacks and the dwarf enjoys saving throw benefits.
