While I tend not to start new games in ToB, I thought I'd go for something a little different.

I summoned Haer'Dalis, Cernd, Jan, Anomen and Keldorn. In looking at where everyone started at, in terms of levels, proficiencies, etc, I saw that Cernd could use bladed weapons other than just a scimitar.

When I went to level him up, however, there was only the standard druid options for weapons (club, staff, etc). Guess my question is why would they say that he was proficient in bladed weapons if he can't use them?

What do yhou mean by "Balded weapons"?

Cernd should just be able to use Druid weapons (some of which are bladed):

Club, Staff, sling, scimitar, dagger, dart (am I missing any?)

I know they can use Scimitars.
But as far as I know, they cannot use daggers or darts in BGII+ToB+final patch (without any mods/addons/fixpacks/etc) . I may be wrong of course...

I'll need to look at it again to get the exact wording on "bladed weapons".

I, too, thought that druids could use darts and daggers. I've had Jaheira use them in the past.

I will not check it but I believe it then. Still weird, however :hmm: Perhaps this is because I have never used daggers as druid weapons.

Darts are not bladed weapons, that is 100% (ok 99,999% because those rules might change and then I would be wrong :p ). Those are missile weapons with piercing damage.

Druids were allowed to use daggers ever since they were introduced in 1st edition AD&D.

It's one of those "Always have, always will be" things. :)

It's not so much that druids can use daggers or darts, it's that on Cernd's record sheet, specifically says "bladed weapons". Sure a scimitar and a dagger are blades, but why wouldn't it just list proficiencies in scimitars and daggers like it does for Jaheira?

One of those many mysteries of ToB, I suppose.

Have you used BG1Tutu? That's all I can think of, since the Bladed Weapons proficiency doesn't exist in BG2 as far as a I know.

No, I don't have any mods installed... yet.

I did, however, reread Cernd's proficiencies in this particular game and it seems I was wrong. It actually says that he is proficient in long swords and short swords (one *). What doesn't change, however, is when I go to level him up I cannot increase the proficiency nor can I equip him with either of these weapons.

I just find the whole thing very odd and was curious is anyone else had encountered this. Guess I'll just SK him and put those proficiencies elsewhere.
