A BG movie would suck, true. Hard to fit too much of the BG story into a 2 hour long movie.

No, no, no. BG ain't no stinkin' 90 minute blockbuster. Rather, think Lord of the Rings scale. Edit: Extended director's cut, of course.

Anything less and it would be a cry and shame for the legacy. :(

A mini-series could be the right format. NOT your average, cheap tv mini-series though - I'm thinking HBO, Band of Brothers-scale production. Some parts of the game would make nice episodes. "Episode 4 - Spellhold" .

What's the name of the <woman of ill repute> in the Copper Coronet? Jenna Jameson would be great for her. Rumer could be played by some guy like Michael Cera, and some overbearing ***** like Roseanne or the female trainer from "The Biggest Loser" could be his wife. Great one time gag, it'd be awesome.

On the other hand, neither would having a cruel and hypersexual race portrayed exclusively by blacks...

It seems strange to me to want blacks playing drow, anyway. Not just because of the facial features, but because there's plenty of artwork out there showing drow with grayish and dark blueish skin tones.

However, there's bona fide black characters in the game. On top of the aforementioned Sarevok (whose original voice actor is black, too), Valygar seems pretty black to me.

So in this scenario of "Married Man Cheats on His Wife in a Brothel," it's not entirely unclear whose side your sympathies are on. :p

    ^ This for Jan

Michael Dorn for Sarevok :). Seriously though... Worf voiced him, Worf looks like him... use Worf...

David Warner for Jon Irenicus. Would be awesome to hear the original voices play the part. Otherwise Malcolm McDowell. You gotta have that oldish voice/aged man for Irenicus.
He lost his long elven life/youth so it makes sense he'd be an old man. Considering his experiments I'd expect he's scarred up pretty bad too.

Sarevok has to be below 30, over 1,88m black and with lots of muscle imo

    Aerie - Emma Watson
Jaheira - Kristanna Loken (watch The Curse of the Ring, and se her play a viking queen and you will know why)
    Jan - Warwick Davies
    Minsc - Kevin Durand
Yoshimo - Louis Ozawa Changchien (yakuza guy from Predators)
Irenicus - Michael Fassbender (Warner is in his 70s. Won`t work)
    Keldorn - Sean Bean
Viconia - Jessica Marais (played a mord-sith on legend of the seeker.)
Valygar - James Purefoy (Solomon Kane)
Anomen - Richard Armitage (played guy of Gisbourne on the robin hood show. Also confirmed as Thorin in the upcoming Hobbit movie)
    Mazzy - No clue
Sarevok - Jason Momoa (cast as the new Conan)
    Nalia - Rachel Nichols
    Edwin - Tim Curry
Gorion - The late Pete Postletwaithe.
Korgan - Mark Hammil. (Very good voice actor, wich will be needed)

Tried to go against type-casting here. I also tried to asume there would be a limited budget. The movie being based on a video game after all.

What about the guy who played Teal'c on SG-1 for Sarevok?

I don't know why, but I'm thinking Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall; Get Him to the Greek) would be a refreshing Garrick.

He could play up the comic relief while trying to woo Lady Irlana.

I just saw The Prophecy again and think Virginia Madsen would be an awesome Jaheira.

    Aerie - Emma Watson

Cernd - Rudy Youngblood from Apocalypto.

Edwin - I still think Gary Oldman has the lock on this one.

Haer'Dalis - Cillian Murphy. Those cheek bones are just HD down to the 't' and 'i'.

Jaheira - My first choice would have been Joanna Pacula, but she's in her 50s now. So I'm gonna have to go now with Jessica Biel. I'm thinking her role as Abigail Whistler in the 3rd Blade movie.

Jan - Geoffrey Rush. He's capable enough of including idiocy, quirkiness, odd-ballness, or whatever you want to call it, in his range.

Keldorn - Jeff Bridges. After seeing Tron Legacy, I think Jeff is now definitely cut out for the aging but still dignified hero role.

Korgan - Robert Norman Smith. Yes, I know he was hit with a child porn charge, but if you think of a guy who can pull of the belligerent Scottish accent better than this and whose facial features are close enough to Korgan's, then I'm all ears.

Mazzy - Rosamund Pike. Her voice is dead on. Sure, she's no midget, but then Elijah Wood was accommodated during LotR with all that trick photography.

    Minsc - Daz Crawford.

Sarevok - Nathan Jones. When you get down it, I really think you need somebody who has both an awesome physical presence, and sheer on-screen viciousness, to pull off Sarevok. My betting dollar says the Aussie giant.

Valygar - Gary Dourdan. He probably needs something to do after leaving CSI.

Viconia - Megan Fox. Now before anybody jumps on me for this one, yes, I know that pretty much every movie she's been touched has gone down the toilet. But with a little cgi work, Megan will definitely look like (and can possibly pull off) Viconia.

    Yoshimo - Donnie Yen.

    Aerie - Danny DeVito

    Cernd - Also Danny DeVito

    Edwin - The ShamWow Guy

    Haer'Dalis - Justin Beiber

    Jaheira - Ron Perlman

    Jan - He's a midget, who cares.

Keldorn - Hmm. Cast a midget.

    Korgan - Rip Taylor

    Mazzy - Rosy Perez

Minsc - Richard Gere (Where's Boo?! Oh. Ew.)

    Sarevok - Chris Tucker

    Valygar - Elmo

Viconia - Hmm. Tie between Betty White and Vanna White. Vanna could be Betty's stunt double.

    Yoshimo - Me.

    Shut up, I'm awesome.

Actually, Betty White dressed as a man (err, gnome) would be great as Jan...

OK, I just saw a picture of this chick named Sofia Vergara -- I wasn't familiar with her before. She would eb the perfect Jaheira -- I can just see Death Rabbit hiding in those fabulous plots of land!

Sarevok never seemed black to me, more like someone from the Mediterranean with a good tan... Anyway I'd cast Vin Diesel as him.

    Here's a few more:

    Nalia - Drew Barrymore

    Balthazar - Jason Statham

    Queen Ellesime - Naomi Watts

    For some of the Villains:

Ireicus - Jeremy Irons. I'm also open to David Warner doing a voice over for someone else. But I also think Irons has his own distinctive voice, that he has sometimes used to portray villainy to good effect.

Abazigal - Iggy Pop, with a little cgi or a good enough plastic masking, eh?

Melissan - Maybe this could be Olivia Wilde's chance to essay a villain.
