Can't get to Brynnlaw!

    Cut scene after I get ready to get on the ship never lets me go. It shows Irenicus with Imoen, then ends and the crew is gathered ready to speak with Saemon, but the dialogue never starts, we just stand there with no controls active. Any ideas?

    AFAIK there's no clean way to break out of hung cutscenes, so short of a reload of the previous savegame, I don't think you can do anything.

    Yep, I have a save right before speaking to Aran and moving to the docks. But how can I get to Brynlaw if I can't get the conversation with Saemon going?

    Have a PC try to speak to someone, anyone. This may get the cutscene guys into dialog mode.
    Failing that, get cracking with Infinity Explorer or Near Infinity.

    Nope, the whole screen appears as things doing during normal cutscenes, with no way to give commands. All characters just stand there looking at one another.

    I have no idea how to do the IE or Near Infinity things that you mention. Any suggestions?

    I am about to try getting rid of items/characters that might be the issue. I will report back when I find it!

    Near Infinity crash course:
    start the NI program
    open your BG2 game files with Ctrl + O, it is asking for the entire game cause it can read the entire game
    now look for the guild hideout, this will be an ARE file, to the ARE section you will go. Aran is in the main part, AR0307, this I know from having played the game.
    check under Actors and he appears as Aran Linvail, click on View/Edit. Click on the link ARAN.CRE (Aran Linvail)
    click on ARAN.DLG, this brings up his dialog file, what a large load of data!
    go to the Edit tab and scroll to the end, where the actions are, Action 23 ends with
    "StartCutSceneMode()
    StartCutScene("Movie03b")"
    This looks like the ticket, now Movie03b is a BCS file so go to the BCS section and look up Movie03b.bcs. This leads to Movie03d.bcs, which leads to Cut41b.bcs

    This is the content of my Cut41b.bcs, it ends with Aran starting dialog with the protagonist:

    Whoa! Thanks for that! I will just now have to figure out how that works, having never used Near Infinity. I will slug through it and update when able!

    Look at what happens in the game, then see what was supposed to happen in the script. Where do the two suddenly diverge?

    This may be needed, once cut scene ends if Aran does not start talking, you can talk to him to get dialog going.
