    Gaius, thanks for the help.

So it looks like I'll restart the game. I've only just penetrated the Gnoll fortress, so I won't be repeating too much.

I'm thinking Fighter DC to Cleric. But a multi-class ranger/cleric is attractive also. Oh heck, I hate decisions like this. Try to be different (not the typical paladin I always play) and I run into all this fear, uncertainty and doubt.

    Argh!

My self, I personnal hate 3rd addition rules. I hate the fact you can only go up to level 20 and really the whole class system is stuffed. So i find BGs must better than NWN and IWD2.

I found the 3E version very userfriendly compared to AD&D..

But the story makes it all worthwhile

Instead of going the dual-class route, I think the Fighter/Cleric multiclass is the better option. That way you get all the perks off the top without waiting. It's true you won't be as skilled with weapons, but in BG you'll only hit level 8 or so anyways, which won't allow for the higher weapon skill ranks.
A Ranger/Cleric has the advantage of being able to sneak around (if you choose light armour) and gets some of the Druid spells.

Ywpark89: Yep. I don't know why it is so, but it happens always. But is it a bad thing? :p

Imoen uses potions without clicking? :hmm: Maybe she has some script?

And, about gem cheat... I found this from Dan Simpson's BG2 Walkthrough:

    Gem Replication Trick (from K.C.)

Remember that bug cheat in BGI that let you replicate gems? You would place a potion in your quick item slot, replace it with a gem, and then "use" the gem twice to change the number amount. It still works in BGII. Just R-click
on a potion in your inventory to drink it and swap it for a rogue stone, for example. The number will disappear. Now do it again and the number changes to 65535, which is FFFF in hexadecimal notation.

The rules aren't capped at level 20 (well, except in NWN but you'd never want to play that anyway). The Epic Levels Handbook allows for advancement well beyond 20th level.

Well..about the gem replication, how do you exactly put a gem into a QI slot?

Actually you can't put gem in quick item slot. Just drink potion in inventory and then put gem there, before the potion disappears.

@dshadow, maybe you are right. The only D&D games i've ever played has been on the computer (NWN BG IWD etc) infact i have never actully seen the rule book thingy for any addition of D&D. But you are wrong about one thing (i think) in IWD2 there is also and xp cap of level 20.

IWD 2 does have an XP cap of level 30 but as this is higher than you're ever going to reach (unless you're playing heart of fury mode) it's no big deal.
