    I made a swashbuckler lvl8/fighter
4 proficiency points in long bows
    3 in katanas
    2 in 2handed weapon proficiency
    1 in 1handed weapon proficiency
My thaco is 4 when I am using my composite long bow +1 and normal arrows.

Kensai D Mage is more powerful (in a way) but this has been more fun and because I dualled him to a fighter, I seem to get -1 thaco every damn level!

Has anyone noticed that ARCHER is a ranger kit and not a fighter kit.
If I want to make an evil aligned archer, no can do. That sucks - it should be a fighter kit!

Why can't I dual class into a kit?!
I want to make a swashbuckler/archer(archer should be a fighter kit)
I also want to make an archer/conjurer.

Guess they are too powerful :) :) :)

[IMG] Why points in two-handed weapons if you're using katanas? Do you mean two weapon style? Two-handed style has no effect on bows.

[IMG] Lord Bane: A kensai thief can wear (as I found) one armour, the shadow armour you take from Maer´Var´s Body. And I agree that a kensai thief is a real menace with boots of speed. My one swept the whole underdark dubgeon alone.

However: Actually I play a dc swashbuckler mage and I really like it. I´ll take some fighters like minsc or Keldorn to the frontline and me for spells and scouting. The swashbuckler has the benefit of AC-2 bonus and he can dualwield with 3 prof-slots, adittionally he can specialise. In case of emergency he isn´t helpless and can defend himself. Additionally he can cast spells so he has quite a good potential; almost like a dc fighter-mage or a dc fighter-thief, without beeing as good in melee. For I like both classes the dc swashbuckler-mage is a kind of a compromise.

It only affects melee weapons. Two-handed swords, quarterstaffs, spears and halberds.
