Brand new PC, and already something's wrong

    I only see a MAC Authentication option on the router, is that what you mean? If so, it's disabled already.

    As for the DVD drive, I can see the DVD drive in the devices manager, and I can get to he properties, but 'update driver' is greyed out. Running the driver update manually as an administrator doesn't change anything either.

    And it had better not be an 'early model' DVD drive, since this is a brand new computer. Do you know if Heroes of Might and Magic V is dual layer? It can run that DVD just fine.

    Depsite my advice in #19 above, it may come as a surprise that I'm no expert here. However, I have had experience with WEP, and I know that in order to actually connect to a WEP-configured router, you have to set up the code on your computer (at least if it's a static WEP code). I can't tell from your earlier posts whether you have looked into this (although I would think that Dell support would have asked about it).

    ... Yes, I entered the code. The USB adapter works, and it would be rather worrying if it did that without the code. :)

    Well, while trying to fix my DVD player, Dell Tech Support had me reset my PC to factory default. It didn't fix the DVD player, but it did somehow fix the wireless adaptor. It's working just fine now. The next effort from Dell is to just replace the drive. They're going to send a technician to do it.
