Milrew gasped and caught the bottle
"Don't! You can't destroy something like this, it's too important. And besides, it wouldn't smash." Milrew looked at the groups of thugs running at them. Altira grabbed his wrist and ran in the opposite direction, until they reached a crossroads.
"Where now?" Milrew panted slightly.

 

"In here.", Altira pointed to a shop and ducked in behind the item counter.

 

All right then.

Altira quickly dashes down the right path.

(You didn't give directions, so I'm assuming it's a fork or intersection.)

 

(oops, good point, round here crossroads means four way)

Altira pulls Milrew down the road to his right and arrives in a busy marketplace
"Why did you bring us here?"
"More people, harder to find us."
"Well, what now? shall we buy stuff?" Altira shot him a look
"People actually pay for things?"
Altira looked around, there was a shady alley he knew wasa dead end. He'd often used that place to morph into another gender when in a tight spot. Which he was, he could see the thugs approaching, they hadn't seen them yet though.

 

Altira decides not to morth, because would see her/him. Instead Altira pulls Milrew further into the crowd, and pretends to be buy somthing from the nearest vendor.

 

The vendor eyes him suspiciously
"What ya doin'? Ya better not try nuffin!" Milrew tugged his sleeve
"Altira, we have got to do something!" He looked nervously round, the thugs were over the oposite side of the marketplace, bullying a merchant. Altira glanced at Milrews' pale face and to the dark alley, weighing his chances.

 

Altira stubbingly refuses to change, and drags Milrew back the way they came, around the thugs.

 

Altira tries to avoid the group, but the largest +(and by the looks of it... stupidest) points
"Ere dey are!" another thug swung round thumping Altira in the side like a block of iron being thrown at him. Altira staggered backwards, he could hear Milrew muttering nervously, the man who'd hit him raised his fist for another hit. Milrew stopped muttering. The thugs face went blank and he blinked giveing his raised fist a curious look. Altira looked at Milrew nervously
"Justa simple forget spell, we should hurry before he remembers though!" the pair of them ran out of the market, towards where they had just come from, a scream of rage announced the thug had regained his memory. They stopped at the crossroads again
"Where to, Altira?! We've got to hurry!"

 

"To that pub we past before," whispers Altira.

 

They ran to the Black Crow, avoided the drunk in man still in the gutters and entered the dismal building. The air was stale and it was dark, hardly any light filtered through the dirty, black windows. Milrew coughed as the thick smoke in the air choked him.
"Why are we here?" He coughed to Altira
"Shh, I don't know yet, but it's safer here." Altira muttered back.

 

I should really give someone else the chance to reply. If no one has by tomorrow morning though...

 

Altira attempts to examine the bar more thoroughly.

 

Altira looks around, carefully studying everything. The bar man looks scarred and overweight while the drinkers can hardly be seen because of the darkness and smoke in the room the floor is dusty and has some sawdust scattered along the floor, though bloodstains still shine through. Some of the blood looks to be years old and a permanent addition to the floor, walls and even the ceiling. The barman glares at Altira and in a harsh, grunting voice:
"you lookin', drinkin' or sleepin' 'ere? Or does I have to chuck yer on yer ear!"

 

Altira orders a couple of pints of whatever's on tap.

 

The barman passes Altira two very dirty glasses full of a strange brown liquid, He passes one to Milrew and and they shuffle away to a quieter part of the inn.
"I'm not expected to drink this stuff, am I?"
"It's all they had."
"But I'm underaged!"
"Do you think anyone cares about that?"
"True. But I don't think it's meant to have things floating in it." Altira thought for a second, Milrew had a point, he looked into his glass and saw things he'd rather not describe.
"Well... just pretened to drink it then..." The barman was watching them warily and a hooded figure was whispering to him.

 

Altira tries to overhear what the hooded figure is saying while faking being drunk.

 

Altira pretends to drink his drink, but the person is whispering quietly and can barely hear anything, almost as if the hooded figure is talking with thoughts more than words.

Altira asks Milrew if he knows a mind-reading spell.

 

Milrew blinked, surprised at the strange request.
"Well, I learnt a little trick from one of my dads' friends, he specialised in Enchantments and stuff. It's a skill that can tell me who a persons' true form is, and their intentions. Quite handy really, never used it much. It's a bit rude using it on someone just for the sake of it."
