Assistance on diagnosing broken hardware

    I hear you but I want to be absolutely certain that it ain't a software problem. Somehow I doubt it, but it's worth a try. Formating might do good for the harddrive anyhow. ;)

    Thanks for everyone for their answers and advice (further input and ideas are still welcome). I'll probably try and fix things up this weekend. First do some tests with the memory, then format the harddrive and if that won't help I'll have to make the difficult choice between taking it to repair or taking a chance with an individual part (most likely the PSU). :)

    If it doesn't get to POST checks, the problem is 90% of the time the motherboard being fried.

    Other possible sources of problems are insufficient power, bad processor and bad ram - and if you've ran memtest86, bad ram's out.
