Nathaniel is the gayest (if such a word exists) romance mod out there...it is exceptionaly well written and authors have really done a perfect job at introducing non-conventional romances to BG universe.

Chloe can get really annoying, but if your PC likes, cool, strong, hot-headed lasses with an attitude, she can be interesting. Since I was playing a male character that time, I do not know her romance talks with a PC, BUT I just loved her 'flirts' with Imoen, as I understand Chloe is not a shy and slow dancer type like Nathaniel when it comes to...yada yada!

Plus her banter with Minsc about her sexuality is just hillarious! (no suprise as nearly every NPC's banter/interjection with Minsc tends to come out as exceptionally funny, he must be everybody's favourite character! Why doesn't some one write a romance mod for him!?) :)

Making a new thread for a question about this mod seemed overkill
so i will ask here. :D

Does anyone know if there would/are conflicts between Ascension
and any of these mods: (These are already installed. )

BG2 Grandmaster fix(Installed it before i read the readme, so it was
useless to my cavalier, because you seem to need a pure fighter for this to work.)

BG2 & ToB Level 50 Patch & XP Cap Remover by TeamBG
    Dungeon Be Gone
No Bottoms Patch by Ken Baker (TeamBG Leader & Founder)
SP's Cloak of Mirroring for BG2:ToB
Rich Martels Universal Script for BG2
Baldurdash Throne of Bhaal Fixpack by Kevin Dorner
Baldurdash Throne of Bhaal English-Language Game Text Update v1.2

To me it seems that you have to update you mods slightly:

There's a BG2 Fixpack and Tweak pack out there. You can probably find them here on this site. They could take care of your Grandmaster fix (I admit I don't even knew that one), the XP-cap remover, the no bottoms patch, the cloack and both of the baldurdash fixes. The level 50 patch (a newer version can probably also be found here on this site). DBG well it worth it and the current version is 15 AFAIK.

To answer your queston: I don't think there's conflicts with Ascension - but as you are using older mods you might stumple onto other troubles.

Hmm i did download most of these mods on this site? Except for the
DBG/Grand master fix and then ofcourse Ascension. But those i got
through a link to i believe the Dragon Hoards site and ofcourse
through the site for Ascension itself? So i assumed that these would
    be the latest versions?

The titles above come from either readmes, or i used parts of the
readmes to make a title. I will look around to see if there are newer
versions but i doubt it? (Although i have been proven wrong more then
    ones in live :) )

[IMG] Many of the mods hosted directly on SP are older and not updated any more. They work and they do the same thing as most of the newer ones, but not all of them are in the more compatible WeiDU format. Several modding groups have re-released many of the same fixes and tweaks under different mod names and those are practically all in the WeiDU format. So if you intend to download and install a bunch of mods at the same time, it's a good idea to check for what can be got in the WeiDU format.

SP doesn't host those newer mods, but we've got most of them listed and described, along with an external link to the modding group's site where you can download the mods in question.

Also, you might hear comments such as that the non-WeiDU or older mods (e.g. hosted by SP too) may break your game, too buggy or have similar problems. This is an incorrect generalization. Some mods may be buggy, but the the fact they aren't WeiDU doesn't mean they're necessarily unstable or buggy. If you install them properly (which is admittedly more difficult than with WeiDU mods, no one doubts this), then non-WeiDU mods won't be more unstable or buggy than the "modern", WeiDU-based mods. (In fact, there are examples when the WeiDU-based successor of a mod became more unstable and buggy than its ancestors.)

So I also recommend WeiDU-based mods as far as installation and compatibility difficulties are concerned, but if anyone feels that he/she finds tempting an old(er), possibly non-WeiDU mod, he/she should start getting credible information (e.g. on the relevant Sorcerer's Place forum) instead of caring about "it may break your game", "it's full of bugs" comments of modders who just want to get more players for their new WeiDU-based mods.

Yes, for example the G3's Bg2 fixpack is a WeiDu mod, but it is full of bugs. The reason is not that the mod has a lot of content (there are mods which have more content than it, but have much fewer bugs) the reason is that they don't test before releasing. Hence, I strongly recommend to keep using the Non-WeiDu baldurdash fixpack (not only because it's more stable, but also because its fixes are more sensible and minimal; G3's fixpack confuses between "tweak" and "fix" and makes many arbitrary changes to the game as well).

The bugs in G3's fixpack are of two general types:

1- Plain bugs: These are bugs which will show themselves even if the BG2 fixpack is installed alone. They are plain bugs the fixpack adds to the vanilla game.

2- Hidden bugs: These are bugs which will show them only under certain given circumstances if other mods are installed with the G3 fixpack.

For example, G3 fixpack arbitrarily and unnecessarily changes Tolgerias's death variable or changes the alignments of certain creatures for no reason. Consequently, some of the game's dependencies are removed arbitrarily. Now, if the player has also another mod which needs to check Tolgerias's death variable to trigger an event or requires to check some certain creatures' alignments for some purpose, the bug will show up and the content of that other mod will bebroken.

The bad part of the story is that the player will uninstall that other mod and will see that the bug is removed and will wrongly think that the other mod was responsible for the bug, without knowing that the other mod would have worked just fine if the G3 fixpack had not made that arbitrary change to the game's files.

    Well yesterday i reinstalled BG2 with ToB after which i installed a few other mods. I installed them in this order;

    1) Official ToB patch
    2) baldurdash fixpack
    3) Dungeon Be Gone
    4) Ascension
    5) G3 Bg2 fixpack v6

Aren't weidu mods supposed to work with each other without any problems? I will not say that i installed everything from G3 fixpack, but it has more then enough things that i do like? And all this because i wanted to start using Ascencion. Oh well, i'm not going to start regretting things because of this. When something does happen i will see what i do.

G3's BG2 fixpack and Baldurdash fixpack won't work together. You should install only one of them.

Baldurdash Fixpack can't be uninstalled without doing a clean installation of the game afresh (and as mentioned in my previous post, I strongly recommend it over the G3 fixpack; so, I recommend to keep the Baldurdash and uninstall the G3 fixpack).

Not necessarily. You should check each mod's readme file for installation guides.

I hope i do not look like someone who doesn't take advice, but there are to many things in the G3 pack i like, so i guess it will be a clean install then. Still thank you for the warning about this, if anything weird is going to happen with my game while the G3 pack is installed i will not hold it against anyone but myself. :D

Heh. Does anyone else get the feeling it really only takes a paper-thin excuse to start a fight now? :)

The BG2 Fixpack is more or less fine, really. Sikret really doesn't like it, in case you hadn't noticed, but if there's stuff you like in there then it's not going to make your computer catch fire to the degree he makes out. Go ahead and use it--and it may always pay to take a look around the forums of any mod you install, Fixpack or otherwise.

Everyone can decide it based on his or her own experience, can we agree in this, SimDing0? Sikret (and me too, but not in this thread) warned players that if a mod seems buggy, it might be G3FP that makes it buggy, and not the mod itself is the culprit. That's all Sikret wanted to express, I believe.

I use the G3 Fixpack, and aside from the fact that I appear to have grown a third arm, I can see no other side-effects that I would call "serious".

And in fact, having a third arm is actually kind of cool. Makes it a bit of a pain to buy shirts, though.

I believe that is indeed what Sikret wanted to express, it is just that i like what the G3 pack has to offer. If something goes wrong in my game then no one else is to blame but me. Man a discussion like this just because i wanted to know if the mods i was using worked together with Ascension.

On topic though, how tough is this Demogorgon now with the Ascension mod installed. The readme says that he is now as he would have been originaly, but that just about it?

Bloody hard for me, if you will pardon the language... the fight is tough. If you are into tough fights, you might (if you are really into a challenge without changing the fundamental nature of BG2) also look at SwordCoast Strategems II at G3.

I have played a very comfortable install with the following, though I am hazy on which order (besides Fixpack before everything else and Tweaks close to the end)

// Baldurdash Throne of Bhaal Fixpack by Kevin Dorner // obsolete, replaced by G3 Fixpack
//Baldurdash Throne of Bhaal English-Language Game Text Update v1.2 // obsolete, replaced by G3 Fixpack
// No Bottoms Patch by Ken Baker (TeamBG Leader & Founder) // obsolete, found in G3 BG2 Tweaks
    // Sabre's Multi-Strongholds and Multi Romances // obsolete, found in G3 BG2 Tweaks
// BG2 & ToB Level 50 Patch & XP Cap Remover by TeamBG // obsolete, found in G3 BG2 Tweaks

    Installed:

    G3 BG2 FixPack

SHS Tashia (Romanceable female sorceror through ToB)

    PPG Kelsey (Romanceable male sorceror)

PPG Keto (Non-romanceable but very fun Bard)

G3 Amber (Romanceable Tiefling Rogue [no ToB content yet])

PPG Yovanoeth's Scripts (updates of several of the older script packages)

    Ascension

    Dungeon Be Gone

    Rogue Rebalancing

G3 BG2 Tweaks (inventory management, cosmetic changes, tweaks to rules)

Is this really necessary, cmorgan? Amdis asked a question about Ascension, yet you come defending the G3 fixpack with such a text (under the disguise of SCSII recommendation). Again, can't we just agree everyone can decide what to do/believe based on own experience? Your post speaks for itself, especially the fact you included the commented lines as well (which have nothing to do with the actual mods in your presented install order).

OK, now everyone knows, all previous attempts of the past and all future attempts to fix and tweak things in BG2 are obsolete, replaced by the G3 Fixpack, and unnecessary to install ever. Thanks to SimDing0, now everyone knows Sikret and myself are people who write recommendations based on our personal preferences rather than technical facts and skills (considering neither of us ever proved any knowledge in released mods, technical tutorials or IESDP). Now could we move on and return to the topic?

Oh come on, now. Amdis asked a question about Ascension, and yet you and Sikret felt it necessary to once again take another shot at the G3 fixpack.

cmorgan simply pointed out what he has installed, and mentioned an alternative to Ascension's version of the demogorgon (ie SCS 2). It seems to me that the "Is this really necessary" comment should be aimed at you, not cmorgan.

In the famous words of BTA, et al., knock it off you bozos. I think we are all sick and tired of all mod threads becoming a battle of opinions between Baronius/Sikret and SimDino0, etc., so just cut the nonsense. We'll hereby stipulate that you each find problems with the others' work. If you can't help yourselves, prepare to have posts deleted, because we may not be able to take the time to carefully prune out the parts that are on point from the ones that aren't given the repeated ratcheting up of sniping and snarky comments.

It seems that you didn't read every post in this thread; so, let me explain what exactly happened:

    - As you said, Admis asked a simple question about a number of Non-WeiDu fixpacks he wanted to install and then asked whether they will work fine or not.

    - The natural and unbiased reply to his question would have been "Yes, they will work without problem".

    - However, quite unnecessarily, Shaitan felt it necessary to recommend BG2 fixpack to Admis.

    - When I saw that a player was recommended to install a heavily bugged mod, it was my duty to inform him of the problems and warn him; and then let him choose for himself. That's all.

All I mentioned were plain and undeniable facts. See the fixpack's forum for the enormous number of bug reports to see the point (and those reported bugs are only the 'plain' bugs not to mention the 'hidden' ones I described before). Now, if some people insist on denying the undeniable, it's not my problem. And if some players (such as you) have not yet experienced any of those serious bugs of the G3 fixpack in your game, it doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Admis made his decision, but he made it after learning and knowing what lies ahead.
