    Hi folks,
I'm starting a new campagne and i hav'nt played IWDII in a while. I want a three party team but am having difficulty choosing my recruits.
The standard mix would be: fighter/mage, fighter/cleric and rogue/mage. I have done similar mixes in the other games from the genre but want somethin more specific.
    I really want the folowing...
    Cleric/fighter - definte
    Rogue/...?
    Monk/sorcerer - definite

I have a tank, i have something different but am unsure what to multi class the rogue.
I would like to have a mage and i definitely want a longbow specialist that isn't the tank.
Can my monk reach four stars with the bow. Can a rogue/mage reach the four stars?

Does cleric/rogue work? (this would mean losing my initial tank but then i would have room for a new one, such as a figher/mage)

Give me your thoughts cos i'm sick of re-starts when i change my mind about somethin.

[IMG] Everything can reach 2 feats in any weapon, and only the fighter can eventually take 3 feats in weapon slots. IWD2 isn't a 2nd Edition game, so maybe that's why you're thinking of 'four stars' in weapons.

The cleric is already a good warrior without the actual fighter levels, so it's best for you to wait with mixing-in fighter until after you've reached level 13-17 in cleric. Your buffing spells, summoning and healing will get you a long way.

If you want a full rogue, then mixing in 1 level cleric might be worthwhile. It boosts the rogue's weakest saving throws, allows it to wear heavy armour with fewer penalties, and you can get the cleric order's bonus (the best are Axe feats from Tempus, Blind Fight feat from Mask, and a WIS quest bonus in chapter 4 for Bane). Try to keep the rogue as pure as possible to get more sneak attack damage (1d6/2lvls) and high-level rogue feats earlier. A rogue's most important abilities are DEX, then INT for skills, then CON for more hitpoints, then STR for more regular damage. Your rogue can stand in as your longbow specialist too. Check the rogue thread for more details about this discussion.

Only a level 4+ fighter can reach 3 feats in any weapon, but it is often not efficient to mix-in 4 fighter levels just for this. The Rapid Shot feat is more than enough to make any of your characters a ranged specialist:thumb:.

I advise you to take a human paladin1/monk1/sorcererX, it has a cheesily high reflex save, and will evade most spell damage. Don't try to be a monk and sorcerer at the same time - you'll fail miserably in both:(.

Try to think in terms of 3E (near) pure class characters, not in terms of 2E 'multiclasses', they are too inefficient due to the leveling system, and won't work.
