This is kinda following on from the Count's post.

I tend to use Druids, Clerics, Monks or Fighters in my parties but what do you think the best races and stats are for these guys?

In fact, if any of you can come up with a party that I like, I'll use it on my next run though!

[IMG] :cool:A Deep Gnome or Drow monk is far more powerful than any other type, the DG would be the best: 16-16-18-3-20-1
:cool:A plain fighter? Hmm, do you like Gray Dwarf? Try 18-18-20-3-14-1
:cool:There's an Underdark theme emerging, so on to cleric:D: Female Drow 18-18-16-5-18-5. Make her a battlecleric, and advance in constitution;)
:cool:A druid from the Underdark: This Female Drow does advance in wisdom, because druid spells are more offensive, and she can shapeshift for heavy melee. She takes any wisdom potions, the best items, everything to get high wisdom. 18-13-16-10-18-5. The 10INT is because she needs skill in concentration and spellcraft, for elemental feats.
She takes a mix-in of Dreadmaster of Bane later, to take advantage of the +2 wisdom bonus quest.
:cool:Now your party seriously lacks arcane magic, so let's get you a wizard:
A DG Illusionist of course, what else?;) 12-20-18-18-5-1. Start this one as a rogue, then it can also cover your rogue skills, and use a bow.
:cool:As a 6th underdark party member, I'm not sure what to advise:hmm:: A drow sorcerer will cover any spells you still lack, like Stoneskin. But I recently thought of a great bard build, and I'd prefer to share it with you: A Drow again, the bard's stats are 6-20-16-14-4-20, it will have enough skill points to spread around, to adequately take care of ALL conversation skills, and also maximize Concentration and Pick Pockets. You have the option of taking the mix-in mentioned in the spoiler, for the reason mentioned, and for boosting conversation skills.

Half-Orc clerics of Tempus are one of my favorites in IWD2. I take one almost every game.

Acrux, I also used a few levels of barbarian.

I thought a tiefling monk worked well.

Favorite races? I'm a traditional guy:

    Kentucky Derby
    Preakness
    Belmont Stakes

I always end up with at least 2 Aasimar in my parties. Great bonuses, almost zero downside. So I suppose they're my favorite in IWD2. I'm also quite fond of the Drow and Moon Elves.

Playing the game for first time, have a party of four humans and an elf.

Been used to playing mostly human characters in tabletop DnD and so I took to it in cRPGs as well. Besides, admit it or not, humans are one of the most powerful and versatile races. That's not to say I don't use other races as well(I'm no speciest :p ), but in the end, human is still my favourite race.
