End of chapter three? My advice is that you keep him - you might be surprised ;)

Anyway, the only other thieves (at this point) are Nalia and Jan Jansen but I don't think setting traps is a strong point for either of them.

Yoshimo dualed to a fighter is one of the best things you can do. Uhm, just take another thief if you are in dire need of thief skills. Other option is to do ALL the quests and let him level up... in time he'll pass his old class level and his thiefing skills will become available once again. But that's quite pointless to do.

So, get another character in your party, Imoen (i dont like her :/), Nalia or Jan Jansen (great character, really ROFL). Thats one way you can do it :)

    Cheers.

Jan and Yoshimo are the only real thieves in the game other than a PC, of course. Nalia is a competent mage, but the only function her thief class serves it to let her use a short bow and shortsword.

Imoen is a reasonable thief, since she is focuses heavily on the open locks/find traps skills. This is particularly true if you use the Baldurdash patch that fixes her thief skills and/or use the Rings of lockpicking and Danger sense to help.

Setting traps is Yoshimo's specialty as a bounty hunter, so no one can match that. Jan can be made into a good trap setter, if you wish however.
