I've been constantly told that using a xp cap remover when soloing wrecks the game balance and is worse than cheating. Personally i feel that after finishing the game quite a few times it isn't really challenging at all anyway...Without a xp cap remover after you reach the underdark soloing you already reach 8 million and other than the plot (which you know from past games) there isn't the fun of getting more powerful and recieving better hp and so forth...

Hmm, interesting thread... I guess that the reason people say that an Exp Cap remover is unbalancing is that at those really high levels what will hurt you? Well, in Throne of Bhaal the level cap is set to like 40 or something.
I guess it depends on how you use the thing: do you accumulate levels naturally or do you use a console command? Of course the ultimate question still remains: are you still having fun playing the game? If the answer is yes then hey, whatever works.

[IMG] No need to seek out approval for that sort of thing.

As long as you're playing solo, the only person who can potentially feel cheated is you. And the only way to cheat yourself is if you don't have the most fun with it that you can. Do whatever you please. Roll up all 25's. Start Jon's Dungeon as a level 30 monk. As long as it's a good time, knock yourself out.

If you start to concern yourself with the "purity and tradition" of a video game, it might be time to seek counseling.

Bob the Assassin hit the nail on the head. Do whatever makes the game more fun for you. I have found that after the underdark you are pretty much overpowered anyway, and I have lost interest in the game more than once at that point. So using the XP cap remover for me doesn't add anything.

It comes down to a personal choice. Just have fun and let the slaying of evil begin.

    [IMG] I've said this before:
You should know why you solo!
Once you have that clear in your mind you will also know if you should remove the xp cap or not.
If the game is too easy stop playing or change the settings. I've aborted a few solo games because they turned out too easy.
