    I want to install this game again, but when I put the disc in it seems to think I've already installed it, and running setup from the disc only lets me "uninstall", despite the fact that it's no longer on my computer. I know I've had this problem before, but I can't remember how to fix it.

    Run a program which cleans your computer's registry. It may help.

    Right click the CD-drive, with ToB inside -> Open -> Setup.exe

    Cleaned my registry with Registry mechanic, and like I said, if I try to run setup from the disc it runs the uninstall for some reason. I know there was some way to sort this out, but for the life of me I can't remember what to do.

    Then try to do it manually: start-->Run-->regedit

    search for Baldur's Gate and delete any keys found in C:Black Isle,BGII.

    Still nothing, I'm afraid. i deleted everything related to Baldur's Gate in my registry, then the Black isle folder for good measure.

    Oh, it's *that* bug. IIRC it's quite a notorious one. I experienced it once. Can't remember how to fix it, but someone here should.

    Well you could try the procedure Bioware described for manual uninstall. Here goes:

    BGII/ToB - How to manually uninstall BGII:Throne of Bhaal.

    Here is the procedure to manually uninstall BG2: Throne of Bhaal. This will also uninstall BG2: Shadows of Amn.

    Edit the system registry using the regedit utility. Remove the following keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\"

    BG2Main.exe
    bg2ep202.exe

    Remove the following keys under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\"

    English: {B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7}
    French: {43D4C77E-4339-11D5-96E7-0050BA84F5F7}
    German: {5B09F344-4406-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7}
    Italian: {C3817924-440B-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7}
    Spanish: {68F40945-449D-11D5-96E9-0050BA84F5F7}

    Go to your Program Files directory and find the hidden directory "InstallShield Installation Information" and delete the directories labeled:

    English: {8DAE4336-2B71-11D4-9A6C-006067325E47} and {B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7}
    French: {43D4C77E-4339-11D5-96E7-0050BA84F5F7} and {5E30BDEB-9307-11D4-9AE0-006067325E47}
    German: {5B09F344-4406-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7} and {5E30BDEB-9307-11D4-9AE0-006067325E47}
    Italian: {C3817924-440B-11D5-96E8-0050BA84F5F7} and {5E30BDEB-9307-11D4-9AE0-006067325E47}
    Spanish: {68F40945-449D-11D5-96E9-0050BA84F5F7} and {5E30BDEB-9307-11D4-9AE0-006067325E47}

    Manually delete all the files and directories created by the previous installation attempts (this should return the system to its state before the original installation attempt) and try again to install from the CD.

    Hope this helps.

    {B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7} didn't exist, and neither did {8DAE4336-2B71-11D4-9A6C-006067325E47} and {B8C3B479-1716-11D5-968A-0050BA84F5F7}. BG2Main.exe was there, hoewever, but bg2ep202.exe wasn't. So I just deleted BG2Main, and that seemed to work, since instead of asking me whether I wanted to uninstall it started going into the proper installation. However, it just reverted back to ye old same thing when I tried to actually start the install.

    If it says your game is already installed, just copy and extract all files from the CDs where they are supposed to be and manually add the registry entries.

    Or, you can just reinstall your Windows completely... lol :mad: :D

    Sorry to resurrect an old topic, but my ticked-offness has reached near-critical levels. I recall that fixing this fault had something to do with altering a text file so the value of "install" or something similiar told the disc that I needed to re/uninstall the game. I'd really quite like to play this game. :(

    Well, I had something similar to this. I uninstalled the game, but it still thought I had it installed on the auto-play menu.

    The registry suggestion worked fine. Start menu > Run > type in "regedit" and press enter. Then press ctrl + F and search "baldur's gate"

    Here's a picture:

    What I did was delete the whole Interplay folder. Because I had no other games associated with Interplay and stuff. Then I searched again, and deleted all the other root folders I found. Bioware comes to mind.

    Make sure you've ran an uninstall prior, and was successful. And yes, running the setup.exe on the disc works too.
