I have a wild mage that I'm redoing (just out of Irenicus' dungeon) SoA and then ToB with. I like the class and in general I treat it as a mage who can take advantage of wild surges. Is there anything you can think of that I should try doing differently with a wild mage rather than a regular one or is there any change in some part of SoA w. the ToB addition that could serve a wild mage well?

Wild mage is my favourite class! This class is the most fun to play with and has many suprises!

The main strength of wild mage is casting nahal's reckless dweomer and trying to cast lvl 8 or 9 spells with it...and if it succeeds, yay!

The game sadly does not have any difference when you are a wild mage, in terms of quests and dialogues etc.

You want something different? You really want to discover the secrets of wild magic and revel in chaos!?

Then I heartily reccomend wild mage additions mod. Even though you have never played mods before. Wild mages are great fun and powerful in higher levels, suprassing even sorcerers. But there are not enough wild magic spells in the game. This mod changes that and adds many cool and balanced wild magic spells. (ofcourse the balance is in theory, it is wild magic afterall so it may not come out balanced always :) ) It is a must to have for me, I loove the new wild magic spells! Chaos and mayhem, and unpredictability and great fun!

The mod has also a kit but it weakens the magic advancement of the wild mage and makes him a more like a thief/mage. I never tried the kit, I want the spell casting and I want it fast! Do not install the avatar change component as I heard it can cause bugs.

Here is the page, take a look and I hope you'll like it and install the mod:

    http://mods.jo-ge.net/bg/shaper.htm

Download it via the link on the left, extract all contents to your BG2 directory, and run the set up file. Then it will ask you which components to install, say yes to new wild magic spells and spellshaper kit if you like (you don't have to be that kit even if you install it you will always have the choice in game to stay a regular wild mage which I always do) and spell fixes and you are set!

    Hope you have fun!

Thanks, would it have any problems running on a Mac?

That is a trick that wild mages can pull. If it works then yay and if it doesn't then sometimes haha.

Nothing lets a foe know you have the upper hand like dropping a cow on them.... Mooooo (that was great fun).

I think one of the high level wild magic spells (in the old Tome of Magic) created a wide wave of magic energy-struck me as an orc/goblin clearing spell.

I do not know about working on a Mac so you may try and see.

I know what you mean, but when that cow lands on you it is not that much funny. :p

The high lvl wild magic spells introduced by this mod are powerful and fun indeed, makes you feel the chaotic nature of wild magic better! :thumb:
