i just got this game 2 days ago.
    looking into skills for fighter.

is whirlwind good at the ending skill so i will use it alot?
if i cast spells from a wiz or so that add him to damage, or like transmutation. does the whirlwind neagate those effects too?
if i add to weapon efficiency does whirlwind negate that?

what is a good path i should follow for fighter and amazon bow skills ?

Sounds like you have spent some time on Diablo2. The fighter on ToEE is a little different. Whirlwind will attack each enemy you are close enough to hit, but only once. This means that if you are surrounded by several weak enemies you will possibly kill them all, but in reality, by the time you can get whirlwind, most of the enemies will be to tough to kill with one or two hits. Personally I prefer Cleave and Great Cleave, which have the same effect on weak monsters as whirlwind, but will allow you to use all of your normal attacks on a tougher monster, increasing the chance that you will kill it, and get a cleave on the bad guy next to him.

As far a as buffing you fighter with your caster goes, most of the spells work together with your fighters skills/feats, unless stated otherwise in the manual. So, buff like crazy. The exception is that if you use crafted items, the spell that is required for the craft will not further buff the person wearing the crafted item. I.E. exact effects to not stack.

It is a good idea to use bastard swords and get the associated feats, as the most powerful weapon in the game is of the bastard sword class.

Your Amazon should be a Ranger class with focus on bows as you progress. Have your caster craft bracers of archery, and Gloves of Dexterity.

    Hope this helps, Good luck!

For amazon you have two class options: fighter and ranger. Fighter will get you a great load of feats, a whooping ten!

Ranger, also, will give you much less feats, but also much more skill points than fighter. Several skills will cost less points (class skills). These are mostly skills related to sneaking and dealing with animals and wilderness.

Ranger will get you the benefits of archery feats for free even if you don't meet the prerequisites, so long as you wear light or no armour. You will most probably not wear anything heavier than light armour because of a high dexterity score that you will need for your archery (the heavier your armour, the more it impairs you dexterity).

If you go for fighter, you will do well to get the following feats: Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Dodge, Mobility, Weapon Focus: Longbow, Weapon Specialisation: Longbow, Improved Criticals: Longbow. If you want to be able to hold your own in melee, take Weapon Finesse: Rapier. It would be a good idea to take Improved Criticals: Rapier, too.

If you go for ranger, make sure you don't select the feats that you get from the ranger class on condition that you wear only light armour. They're still available in case you wanted to use them with heavier armour, but you don't. Trust me ;) Dodge and Mobility are a good option. Weapon Finesse to be able to apply dexterity bonus to attack rolls in place of strength bonus. Rapier, of course, because it deals the best damage of all light weapons (you can't use Finesse with anything heavier than light) and has a good chance of scoring a critical hit.

Look, I know Amazons are not really associated with rapiers, but spears base on your strength for attack bonus. You would need an exceptionally good roll to have both strength and dexterity at a very high level. A good thing is that:

    1. Two handed weapons use 1.5 times your strength modifier, so you really benefit greatly from a very high strength score.

    2. Great strength gives more damage potential to your melee attacks.

    3. Good strength and spears allow you to skip the Weapon Finesse part.

    4. Spears have a great range.

    5. Spears allow you attacks of opportunity on your enemies before they're able to reach you.

Ergo: with a good STR and DEX, go for spears. But you need lots of patience for rolling that. Power Attack and Cleave are must-have. Great Cleave might be worth considering.

Whirlwind requirements are not worth it. You need to spend about 5 feats to get whirlwind not to mention other feats you need such as power attack, cleave, etc you end up weaking your fighter by missing out on good feats for the sake of whirlwind. Not to mention whirlwind requires 13 intel which can be a pain if you don't like rolling forever while trying to have high con, str, and dex with decent wisdom.

You end up hitting more enemies and bigger chance of killing with Cleave, Great Cleave setup.

Base attack 1 or 2 attacks + cleave (if he dies) + great cleave (if he dies this will continue until everyone around you is dead)

    Or

Whirlwind which takes 5 feats and hits everyone around you once.

I cheat, quite a bit. So take what I've to say with a bit of skepticism.

I found whirlwind totally awesome. I chopped down people left and right, long after I thought my character was done chopping. It's fairly cool to be completely surrounded, and hack out 5 or 6 people, with one poor fool left to counter. They bum rush me, and I bum rush them.

Anyways, I always "choose" Whirlwind as a feat.

Also, I pray to Crom. Though, I seldom pray to him; he doesn't listen...
