[IMG] I got a Berserker dualwielding katanas, and I just got the high level abilities. Never played a dual wielding fighter so far as to the abilities, and I was just wondering if he gets the bonus from whirlwind?

A fighter got 5 attacks, right? And Dual-wielding means 5x2 = 10. WW sets attacks to 10 so in theory, it'd be 2x10 = 20. That seems a little overpowered IMO, so I don't think that it counts, tho I don't know. Anyone knows?

No, a charcter can only have a natural max of 5 attacks per round. dual wielding only gives an extra attack as far as i know (maybe someone could help me there  ). The only real advantage to dual weild to me is that you can have two special abilities from weapons (such as crom faer sp? and ...well any other weapon)

Greater Whirlwind is a must have HLA as its one of the few ways, short of cheating to get 10 attacks per round.

Actually, I asked something like this before. Check out here(question 2): dual-wielding

In short, dual-wielding without whirlwind will have a max of 6 attack per round. But with whirlwind, it will be set to 10 attack per round, no more no less.
As for the advantage, I feel the same as Malovae. I will only dual-wield if I am going to arm that a warrior with Crom faeyr or unless that warrior is a half-orc with 19 str, then I will consider giving Crom faeyr to Minsc and dual-wield other weapons.

Urrrgh, that thread hurt my head - i'm not even gona try to understand how they worked them out. Its when people mention 5/1 and 11/2 and 7/2 attacks that my head starts to spin. Anyone want to kindly explain to a very stupid Malovae how it works.....please?

11/2 attacks is a way to explain that you've got 11 attacks in two rounds, 5 in one, 6 in the other. You see? The same is with the 5/2. It's just easier than using decimals(sp?) I guess....

Dual wielding gives you one extra attack per round. Only your good hand gets multiple attacks per round.

If you're dual-wielding with a high level fighter type, you may be better off taking critical strike than whirlwind. 5 or 6 guaranteed critical hits per round is generally better than 10 attacks. You'll want some whirlwinds for when you have to take out stoneskins or the like.

Of course, if you're using a weapon like Celestial Fire that has a special ability like stunning, you may prefer the chance of stunning to the critical hits, in which case whirlwinds may be better for you.
