Which warrior for tacticsIWD2 all the way to HOF?

Not looking for spoilers, just some feedback from players who have gone through tactics4iwd2

In general, considering the nature of battles in tactics, which spellsword would serve me better

1. Dmg focused spellsword

deep gnome palax/fighterx/illusionist2x

Max str, dex, int All remaining points in con, with wis and chr as dump stat

All level up points into str, and wielding 2 handed weapons.

or

2. Def focused spellsword

deep gnome palax/fighterx/illusionist2x

f1/w2/p3/w4...

Max str, dex, int, all remaining points in con, with wis and chr as dump stat

All level up points into dex, and wielding a light weapon with a shield.

or

3. Copy of 1, except using drow, for a loss of 4 ac bonus

Tactics4IWD2 (HoF compatible version) is relatively new, so I hope you find someone that's done it. What I understand, is that random potions are dropped, that enhance abilities. So this may make it hard to develop a strategy around.

As far as the multiple choice goes, 1 looks better than the rest. In HoF your characters will get 5 bonus AC per 5 levels, so getting high AC will be easy enough without a weird DEX-build.

Deep Gnome is a good choice for a tanker, since it has 3 level ECL. That means your spellcasters will get a little more XP in the long run.
