She's at that stage pre BGII style. I'm thinking drop the rest of the party and just go solo with her to accumulate some mass XP? Pick up the rest before the end and it's a happy time

I'm not sure how BG1->SoD->BG2 works in EE.
In the original I'd wait until she had 6 thief levels before dual-classing her so that she could get them back when she got to mage level 7. However, an important consideration is that you need at least 85 in both open locks and disarm traps, which doesn't leave a lot for pick pockets or stealth. I don't think you need more than 85-90 for a high-dex thief like Imoen in BG1. The boots of stealth and one set of leather armor can help compensate for lack of points in stealth to let you backstab like a level 2 thief that put all their points into stealth, but unless you take a bard you wouldn't have anyone to pick pockets.
However pick pocketing isn't that big a deal unless you are trying to do the quests for the thieves' guild in Baldur's Gate, and IIRC there is only one really powerful item to be had from pick pocketing. However it is arguably the most powerful artifact in the game. Algernon's Cloak lets you cast Charm Monster at will with unlimited (well technically it has about 65535 charges, and the trick of selling the item to a merchant and buying it back fully recharged works) charges. In contrast, there is a similar item called the Nymph's Cloak let's you do the equivalent of Charm Person, also at will, but as a touch attack.

Anyways, There was a discussion on this years ago for the original edition, long before EE was on the radar.
