In your opinion, what would be the best nonmagical weapon? In my opinion, the greataxe. :)

I don't have one favorite, but I really like the katana, throwing daggers, and the bow.

  3. The quarterstaff, just for its simpleness.

[IMG] The Greataxe is cool, but whenever I play D&D using the 'Ninga of the Cresent Moon' prestige class I love to get nunchaku and shurikens.

Katana, Rapier and the Composite Longbow are all carried by my Fighter Mage Thief and are the best weapons ever.

I agree with creudzfeldt-jakob (what is that anyway, a disease?), the quarterstaff.

[IMG] Tridents also are neat and powerful if you mix them with dwarven defenders.

Quarterstaff is a great weapon indeed. Being simple and having an option of being double, quarterstaff is seriously underrated by a lot of dual-wielding people.
In some cases, a situation arises so you need to punch some more in attack bonus, rather than take a chance to deal more damage (as in execute a sneak attack or a ready action on a caster to disrupt her spell), and here a double weapon comes in game - you do not have to free your other hand of a blade to attack with single weapon. Quarterstaff is a simple weapon and does not require a feat to use properly, unlike the double axe and double sword, so it's pratical for class combos that want to invest their feats in something more useful.

[IMG] My favourites have always been poleaxes. Mostly I just really like the different variety of pole-axes, from pikes, and halberds to bill-hooks, and (one of my all-time favourites) the bardiche. IMO they just seem to allow for all that much more 'personality'.

Kusari-gama has been a favorite for me, ever since I played Ninjas&Superspies.

Scimitar, not that they're not so overpowered I don't feel embarassed about using it.

    And the greataxe, just 'cause.

  15. Azardu, I believe that Creudzfeldt-jakob, aka Mad Cow disease is some sort of genetic disorder that lets a sort of protein or prion into the brain.

Then you die, and your brain looks like swiss cheese.

By the way, the disease is pronounced CROYZ-felt YAH-kob.

Bastard Sword, without a doubt! I like the longsword blade length with the versatility of a two-handed grip. It's useful with or without a shield...Plus, it's great at parties!

The rapier and dagger are my 3rd ed favorite weapons for some reason. I think it's because I've started playing my chars more "swashbucklish", than before, where I used to like longswords and battleaxes.

As real elf I just prefer a Long Sword for melee and a long bow for ranged attacks.
