What's so great about Valygar?

[IMG] I took Valygar along from Umar Hills through Planar Sphere and I must admit dual wielding Katanas (especially Celestial Fury) meant he could dice the vegetables like a good 'un. But with no shield and that hopeless family heirloom armour he also got diced a lot. I seemed to spend most of Jaheria's and Aerie's time patching him up.
So tell me Vally fans, what am I missing?

    Hmmm...

I think I didn't had any problems with his AC or shield stuff. I also had Valygar dual-wield Celestial Fury and another weapon. Valygar's AC on my party is -5, pretty high.
You could give him ring of protection, some bracers that could boost up AC or give him a helmet (I recall having some of those).

  3. Two words, Celestial Fury. In my opinion this the best non-assemble weapon in the game (minus Carsomyr). In my game, Valygar has the lowest AC (-6). He wears the Helm of Balduran and the Shadow Dragon armour, and a cloak of protection +1. Granted, his strength is a problem, but I gave him the Gauntlets of Ogre Strength, and he was fine.

Oh yea - he dual wields Dakkon's Zerth Blade and the Celestial Fury. The zerth blade is +1 AC bonus.
