What's on Your Amazon Recommended List?

    Does anybody else have a 'Recommended Book' list that they have built up at Amazon? No matter how many books I buy or rate, my list still always ends up looking a bit odd (although #1 on my current list is indeed the next book I will be reading!).

    The books that Amazon are currently recommending for me are a right mixed bunch:

    1) A Storm of Swords (Martin)
    2) Men at Arms (Pratchett)
    3) Fever Pitch (Hornby)
    4) The New Contented Little Baby Book (Ford)
    5) About a Boy (Hornby)
    6) The Elf Queen of Shanarra (Brooks)
    7) Schott's Food and Drink Miscellany (Schott)
    8) Peter Pan (Barrie)
    9) The Scions of Shanarra (Brooks)
    10) The Talismans of Shanarra (Brooks)

    I will be reading the first 2 at some point soon but am in no hurry to read the other 8. What's on your list?

    1) Crystal Reports 9 for Dummies
    2) The Conspiracy Club (Jonathan Kellerman)
    3) A Faint Cold Fear (Karin Slaughter)
    4) Wiley IAS: Intrerpretation and Application of International Accounting Standards
    5) The Lake House (James Patterson)
    6) Bare Bones (Kathy Reichs)
    7) The Know (Martha Cole)
    8) A Short History of Nearly Everything (Bill Bryson)
    9) Disordered Minds (Minette Walters)
    10) UK and International GAAP

    I've not included authors for the reference books.

    What a mess! Sad to say, the only likely purchase out of that lot is the bottom one which is of course for work so not much in terms of relaxing bed time reading for me here. It's £81 too!

    The non reference books would all go down a storm with my girlfriend and with my mother who are both into the Crime books, but not so much for myself.

    Never mind, next time I look at it I hope it's more to my liking :)

    'A Short History of Nearly Everything' is a great read, if you like that sort of thing. I don't think I would ever pay money for a book on International Accounting Standards. Most of them are going to change in the next year of two anyway. Same goes for UK GAAP. If any of your accounts are wrong, your auditors will let you know . . . . .

    If I remember correctly you can click on something near each of your recommendations that will tell you why you were recommeded. You can than tell it to ignore whatever it was.

    Hopefully, this makes some sort of sense.

    I have recommendations for games, music, DVDs, and books. I like to use Amazon as a recommendation site and only occasionally purchase from them.

    This list is pretty accurate for what I like to read, because the first one is my most wanted (I'm waiting for paperback edition).
