What would like to see added or changed on Sorcerer's Place?

I know that this site is based more on the CRPG's, but I would like to see a game section for Dungeons & Dragons. I have no daoubt that there is a lot of material out there developed by the players that frequent this site. You could put up the links to the official FAQ and errata's, the Character Generator Demo, etc. I have most of them saved by the way if you are interested.

The fact that the two forums Roleplay Corner and 2nd/3rd Edition D&D have a combined post count of over 5600 is a fairly good indication that this would be popular, in my opinion.

Good idea, a section devoted to pen and paper D&D would be nice. People could send in their (hopefully) playtested new spells, magic items and prestige classes. Any adventures (not stories) would fit in here as well. And on a more interesting note, any reviews of d20 stuff might also be included. Maybe get some roleplayers interested in the site, too. (Meaning roleplayers who aren't interested in a site focusing nearly almost on AD&D computer games.)

 

I raise both hands for this proposal - a great idea.

 

I know you've got the Fantasy World section (on the main page), and that has links to a lot of material for FR. But that section also has stuff on movies, and stories written by people here on Sorcerers.

I really think that more PnP material would bring a lot more traffic to the site, but most of the PnP content that is currently on Sorcerers is somewhat hidden away, and not obvious to a casual visitor (ie., someone surfing around looking for material).

Recently I've noticed a lot of people coming to the D&D forum and asking where they can find various materials. Some are simple-to-find things, like the Character Generator, but others are harder to find, like different types of D20 game settings, and adventures. I'm sure that there are a lot of people here who have collections of items that could be put up here, as well as material they've created on their own. Just looking at the FAQ for Roleplay corner I see there are 3 custom worlds going. And of course, you could also put up adventures for PnP games that people have created. This sort of material could be placed somewhere on Sorcerers for other people to use (owners willing, of course).

There's also a lot of material from the WotC site that you could link directly to, or even have a section of files right on Sorcerers (the beauty of the Open Game System). The Wizards site is very difficult to navigate around, and it's often hard to find just what you're looking for.

On a similar note, there are various free generators and tools that you could link to. The ones I'm thinking of are web-based generators for Dungeons, NPCs, characters, encounters, etc, but there are other tools as well. Sorcerers is easily my favourite place to hang out on-line, but unfortunately I often have to go elsewhere to get material for PnP. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who'd prefer to be able to get at that material here

 

It could be useful to have the functionality to put polls (formatted like the Poll of the Week rather than just verbal) inside individual threads, as you can do on some types of message boards. It seems there is always an active thread with a poll in it somewhere: favorite game, favorite Harry Potter book, favorite condiment etc.

More functionality related to the profiles could also be interesting. Being able to search the profiles of others would be fun . I'd to know who else here speaks French, who'd like to be a pen-pal in Spanish to improve my language skills, who could answer a physics question for me, who would be interested in forming an online Shadowrun gaming group or spending two weeks doing live-action role playing in the Himalayas - you name it. Yes- I don't get out enough. I'm aware of this.

Even paid classified ads somewhere could be interesting. I do a lot of online shopping; I'd buy from people here if I could. Or, someone travelling could put up an ad asking for names/addresses of members willing to offer bed & breakfast while they were passing through. Why not? People belonging to other club-like organisations do this all the time. This is (partly) how I spent a year travelling in Europe & north Africa with less than $2000. I'd be happy to do the same for some of the young'uns here.

 

The profiles idea is great...thumbs up!

And the (A)D&D section thingy would be excellent! So that the creative minds of could...well, CREATE custom adventures, worlds and all other things Volar already mentioned. Plus a dirty story here and there...

I don't get the stuff about 3rd edition D&D concept art. Will there be like a gallery of sorcerers vistors' works or something else?

I like the the idea of some how SP would have more pen&paper. DM section and classes and a place to share adventures. I'm really liking the idea of D&D baised art.

 

I like the ideas of extended profiles as well, and the poll-in-thread thing as well.
P&P things would probably be a good idea as well.

Bed & Breakfast thing for SP? That would be an interesting idea... too bad I can't offer that due to the restrictions of my current living arrangements..

Well, the downloadable custom pictures should be displayed so you know what your are getting. I know when I downloaded the 150 picture package for Baldurs Gate 2, I was quite dissapointed with the quality of some of them.

Also a new forum could be nice.

Perhaps you could have the areas more organized such as having links to different sections of the site. For example, if I am in the Baldurs Gate 2 area, and I want to get to the Baldurs Gate area, I would have to go through to another page to get to the Baldurs Gate site. I think links to all the pages should be on a heading.

Yes they did!

And if I'm not mistaken, witch I'm not, I sent Tal a wall paper of BGTSC. It's rather good I think. Very nice looking. I think that Tal you should put it up. Maybe others will make wallpaper's too. I will. I'll makes lots!
