Mine was a Fighter/Mage/Thief. I was really worried that I couldn't beat the game without magic or thief ailites. It turned out to be the easiest character ever. The most fun one though was a Ranger/Cleric.

Fighter/Mage was my first, I only had trouble with the Werewolf's hideout on the Island. Nevertheless a very powerfull character.

A fighter/mage/thief. It was so easy that it became horribly boring to play.

Yeah. With my F/M/T, the final battle was soo easy. All I did was hide a backstab with 24 STR (Storm Giant STR potion). It took 3 backstabs.

Sort of. It gives you a better understanding of the game and makes you a more formidible BG player. Plus you can say that you've solo'd.

First time through solo was with a singleclass fighter. Had more than one though fight, that´s for sure.

I wrote a solo guide, and it's now in the BG1 Tips and Tricks site here on SP. Check it out if you've never solo'd.

Question: do people solo with the 89,000 / 160,000 XP cap in place? In BG1 you're really quite frail, and I'm not sure how a 7th / 8th level character could take on the Iron Throne all by himself, let alone a Demon Knight or all the other horrors of Durlag's Tower.

Well, if you don't take the XP cap off, then you're in for a challenge. It can be done, but it's damn hard.

I didn´t have internet when I solo´d that Fighter, so my game was all unmodded and had access to no tips, walthroughs or cheats/cheeze. Although, I didn´t have ToTSC either so that saved me some trouble...

Ohh, Durlags Tower is not nessecary to do to complete the game.

You just have to do this:
    Nashkel - Mines - Bergeost (sp) - Bandit Camp - Cloakwoods - BG - Candlekeep - BG and you´re done :)
