[IMG] Continuing in a tradition of music that seems prevalent on the board, and since I know little about most of the songs/bands/etc that everyone else seems to like, I wanted to post my views (and hear everyone else's) in a topic where you can talk about ANY music/song/singer/etc. Also, if, like me, you like a song that you don't think anyone else is familiar with, feel free to post the lyrics.

Right now I have "Yubiwa," composed by Yoko Kanno, sung by Maaya Sakamoto, stuck in my head.

    Namida ga ato kara afuredashite,
Saigo no egao ga nijinde mienai no
    Ikanaide! Ikanaide. Koko ni ite!
    Sora e hikari kakenukete yuku

    English Translation:
    As the tears keep overflowing,
I can't see your smile through the blur
Don't go! Don't go. Stay here!
    Light bursts through the sky

That's just the first verse, I doubt anyone will guess where it's from. Except, of course, that it's from Japan.

I have two Japanese bands/singers' CDs. The first one is Globe, amazing techno band I find and the second one is some weird Japanese name and I temporarily lost the CD case. She is sopposed to be the #1 pop singer in Japan.

I like a lot of songs, singers and bands, too many to name and they always change constantly depending on where I am, what time it is and my mood.

Right now I'm listening to a lot of Craig David and 112, both R&B/hip hop.

[IMG] I don't suppose it's Ayumi Hamasaki? I just did a little searching and the site I found her name on mentions that "all Japanese high school girls follow (her) blindly."

Or is it Namie Amuro, whom another claims is the 'Princess of J-Pop'?

I'm not familiar with either of these, but was just trying to refresh your memory.

All I know of Japanese pop would be Shonen Knife, but I *love* them. I have to say that theirs was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

    Hmmm. New topic...

My favorite band is Nine Inch Nails. My current favorite song is And All That Could Have Bee. Anyone else like NIN? I haven't heart it mentioned.

For the first time in years, I bought a new album today, Røyksopp's Melody AM. Doubt any of you have heard of that. It's Norwegian electro-funk, and usually without lyrics.

Dang it, I have yet to hear Nobuo Uematsu's work, or even to play a Final Fantasy game! Would you recommend his CDs, Z-Layrex?

[IMG] My favourite song at the moment is I hate everything by The Suicide Machines -

[ i apoligize for the use of the word f*ck but if i edit it out then it wouldn't make sense.]
[edit] ok it auto-edits them out. You can work out what the ****'s are.

    I Hate Everything

    My systems down
    Got an overload of hate
    Got a bad attitude
    With no intent to change
    I've had my fill
I put my cards on the table
    Won't take it back
    'Cause today I hate everything

I hate it all, I hate my friends
    I hate this song
I hate this bad attitude, I'm sure you hate me too
But I don't care, you know why
When it's over then you die
    No making friends today
    'Cause I hate everything

    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you

    I hate the trees
Hate the birds and the bees
    Got a sick ****ing mind
And no time for your kind
I'll say again, must I still question my friends
    I'll smile tomorrow
    'Cause today I hate everything

I've got a chip on my shoulder
Got a monkey on my back
Got a lot of things to say
And I think I'm gonna crack
Can't buy a smile off the world's happiest man
    No huggin' trees today
    'Cause I hate everything

    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you

    ****, I hate it all
I hate the winter, summer, spring, I hate the fall
I hate the world, the birds, the flowers and the squirrels
I said before that today I hate everything

    I got an itch I can't scratch
All these people on my back
Make me sick, they're all pricks
    And your mother turns tricks
    Don't bother me either way
And I don't care what you say
    Don't need a hug
    'Cause today I hate everything

    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you
    I hate everything, **** you

    **** you- not me

Hmm, I think most of you will recognize these:

Teenage angst has paid off well
    Now I'm bored and old
    Self-appointed judges judge
    More than they have sold

If she floats than she is not
A witch like we had thought
    A down payment on another
    One at salem's lot

Serve the servants - Oh no (x4)

That legendary divorce is such a bore

As my bones grew they did hurt
    They hurt really bad
I tried hard to have a father
But instead I had a dad

I just want you to know that I
    Don't hate you anymore
There is nothing I could say
    That I haven't thought before

Serve the servants - Oh no (x4)

That legendary divorce is such a bore

I guess you'll tell me that I'm 10 years late.. and I am! I just never got into nirvana back then... and now, at 19, I bought "in utero", and I realize there were more to them than "smells like teen spirit".

[IMG] That Nirvana song's a classic. In fact, pretty much anything by them is a classic...
