Just curious. What quests are just too risky to attempt in a game where you won't allow yourself a reload?

What quests will you not do without a certain amount of equipment?

    Kangaxx.
That was probably *the* most obvious statement any one could ever make.
You can probably get through most of the side quests easier than you could the mian story line ones. Being prepared will be the main thing, scouting for traps and knowing where the more difficult and magically orientated enemies will be helpful.

The Twisted Rune encounter, as well as some of the Illithid stuff throughout the game, are also ones that can be terminal for your characters if you're not lucky.

To avoid...none, or the game is not a real "no reload game"....you don't know what lies behind the corner, so you better be prepared...and knowledge of the game can helps you in this, but only in this.
    Just my opinion...

Technically, I agree with Mistyca. But that doesn't mean you have to go looking for quests or fights, either. So battles like Twisted Rune, Guarded Compound, or Kangaxx (not that he's difficult if you're prepared) can easily be avoided because either they're not exactly easy to find, and often have warning signs before a fight is inevitable.

For the ultimate no reload experience, install Game-Be-Gone :p

    What's "Game Be Gone"?

BTW, I think I'll just recruit Korgan for the battle against Kangaax. ;)

Well, it basically gets rid of the peasky battles. And major battles. And quests. And micro-managing. And macro-managing. And most dialogue. And chapters.

I wrote about my glorious triumph using this mod here.

I agree that I don't avoid any battles in a no-reload game, I just make sure I have the proper equipment and spells prepared. Kangaxx is probably the most obvious example. It is absolutely necessary to be prepared to beat him. If you don't have anyone who can berserk, no one with SI: Abjuration memorized, and no Prot. from Undead or Prot. from Magic scrolls available, you're in for a heck of a time. Having one or more of the those options available to you makes him a pushover. Similarly, you're in a lot better shape simply by having a higher level party for a lot of fights. Don't go to Guarded Compound or the Twisted Rune right after you leave Irencus' dungeon. If you're playing a no-reload game, I would recommend holding off on both of these fights until Chapter 6.

Other than that, just be smart in the order you select to do your quests, as some are much easier than others. The Thieves guild is usually easy enough early on - the hardest part of that is usually the Cowled Wizard you have to kill - Mae'Var is pretty easy. The druid grove is also easy enough to start off with, as is the Slavers, and the D'Arnise keep as long as you have some fire/acid damage handy. OTOH, a less than wise choice would be to try and take out Firkraag as your first quests, or trying to battle multiple beholders in the Unseeing Eye quest.
