I need a new CD ripper. I have been downloading several different programs from download.com, but so far every program I've tried sucks! They either encode the Mp3 file at a low bit rate (96K bps or lower) or the file has skips, clicks, or some other weird noise.

I am running Win2K Pro, so that shouldn't cause any programs to not work properly. Here are a few programs I've used...or at least "tried" to use:
    Easy CD-DA Extractor
    WinAmp
    Real Jukebox
    Windows Media PLayer
and a bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head...

If you have used a ripper that you think is "great" (and not from the list above) please tell me what it is! Costs for programs is not a problem. :rolling:

Get yourself a copy of EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and the Lame encoder. I use it to rip at ±500 bps. Very nice and simple to use.

I dunno what the best for windows is, but check www.webattack.com - there is usually something adequate there.

Kitrax, most of those programs WILL work, and work absolutely wonderfully.

But, only with an ASPI layer installed. The default ones, all across the windows platforms, just plain suck.

I have 4.71 saved back. Once I install that aspi layer, there's a whole slew of programs (I think a couple of games, too, but I forget which ones) begin working.

    Get you an aspi layer.

The best ripper i've used is Creative Play Centre. But then, i guess you need to buy an Audigy or something to get it, coz that's how i got mine.
