    I just want to see the responses I get for my next idea for my story. It's like the FOrgotten Realms, except, incorporated with post civil war America, meaning gunslingers etc. There is still magic around, but technology is becoming more popular. So is it a yay or nay?

    Truly, that type of setting has been done before. What of your PLOT requires the mix of guns and magic? A strong storyline is the most compelling part of reading, after all - for me, anyway.

    I don't know. I mean, Science was on it's way in the 1800's (gunpowder, acids and such) so magic would kindof be an odd addition and really wouldn't make much sense. If you found a really flawless way of incorporating it, then I would say AWESOME! It's seems very original and I can't really think of anything that it would rip-off (Arcanum was more focused on magic vs tech IIRC and it wasn't the Wild West).

    Closest I can recall to this is the "Alvin Maker" series by Orson Scott Card. It would also tie in with the Native American thread in the AoDA, as the premise of that series was that the Amerinds were not in any way wiped out.

    Plot is more important than setting anyway, so what's the plot?

    Edit: Oops, didn't read all of Rally's post closely, so the plot comment is a bit redundant. Sorry.
